Marc Jean Giraudier of Bengough, SK passed away on Saturday, February 11, 2017, at the age of 73 years. Marc was born on January 28, 1944, in Willow Bunch, SK. He was the third of four children born to Ernest and Suzanne (nee Berger) Giraudier. Marc spent most of his childhood on the Giraudier ranch five miles south of Harptree. He attended school at Muddy View, Harptree, and later Bengough. After Marc graduated, he started working as an elevator agent for United Grain Growers and later Federal Grain in Bengough. In 1977 he went into mixed farming full time. Marc married Lois Benoit on October 9, 1965, at St. Ignace Roman Catholic Church in Willow Bunch. They were blessed with three children, Grant, Genelle, and Chad, and lived on a farm two miles east of Bengough. Marc was mechanically inclined and in his younger days would overhaul motors. He enjoyed working with metal and was often called upon for welding jobs. Music was an integral part of Marc's life. Mark and his brother, Lawrence, impersonated the Everly Brothers, entering a contest in 1959 and ending up on television. Two memorable events they performed at were the opening of the Civic Centre in Moose Jaw and the Dominion Grocery Store in Regina. Mark continued with his music by playing and singing in the Drifters band. He was humbly appreciative when he received a Citizenship Award for Culture in 2001. Mark was a charter member of the Elks and involved in the formation of the Parks Board. Other committees that he had been a part of the Rodeo Association, Railway Retention, Valley Agriculture Elevator, Tree Planting, and curling. Marc and Lois enjoyed travelling to many places in Canada, the United States, and Mexico, and kept busy with community projects, playing cards, curling, reading, camping, and working on the farm.
