Obituary of Wilma Vatamaniuck

Wilma Irene (Mitchell) Vatamaniuck, was born in Lafleche on November 6, 1927 and passed away March 7, 2017 at the age of 89 in Moose Jaw. She married Gus Vatamaniuck October 4, 1948 and lived on the farm south of Melaval until 1982 when they moved to Lafleche, and in 2002 they moved to Moose Jaw. Together they raised five children and were blessed with 12 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren. Wilma is survived by brothers - Elvin (Lila) Mitchell, Lloyd (Bonnie) Mitchell and sisters-in-law-Joyce Mitchell, Kay Mitchell. She was predeceased by Gus (2010), her parents Dave and Amy Mitchell; brothers Clarence, Gordon, Grant, Willis (Phyllis) Mitchell. "The love of a family is life’s greatest blessing” was how Wilma felt & lived. Their home was open to everyone. As an Avon Rep Wilma received many awards. Wilma loved to visit, play cards and all kinds of games, square dancing, bowling, golfing and watched all sports. She enjoyed gardening, canning, cooking and baking. She belonged to UCW, Lafleche Legion, Lafleche Health Centre Auxiliary & Club 50. The love to travel took them to Canada’s East and West Coasts and many places in the US. Through strength and determination, the loss of loved ones and health issues Wilma believed these were all part of God’s plan. Her love and warm hugs will be missed by all that knew her. Service at Lafleche United Church March 18, 2017. Interment at Lafleche Municipal Cemetery.
