Obituary of Mary Letilley

On January 23, 2017, our beloved mother, Mary Letilley passed away at the age of 95. Since October, 2000, mom lived in Saskatoon in St. Volodymyr Villa and Prairie Spring Care Home. She was born, raised and lived most of her life in the Town of Assiniboia. She received her education in Assiniboia and Key School. On January 6, 1941 she married Marcel Letilley. Early in 1941 they moved to Winnipeg, Manitoba and later that year they lived in Hamilton, Ontario where they were employed in a war factory. They returned to Assiniboia in 1942 to take over his family farm. Soon they became a family of seven. Mary, like many other farm wives, shared farm duties with Marcel. As well, she worked in Assiniboia at Witt's Holdings and for twenty three years at Carole's Creations. Throughout their years Marcel and Mary participated in square dancing, curling and enjoyed travelling. Mary was a lifetime member of the Catholic Women's League, a member of the Fellowship Club and a long-time member of the Royal Purple. She was also an avid bridge player. She loved her family. Her home was a continuous blessing in which many friends and neighbours shared. Her motto was to do good without being thought as doing so. She was a charming and unforgettable human being. Her family and friends will sadly miss this loveable woman with whom they ever felt so much at home. Her passing leaves all who were touched by her with a wealth of gentle memories that can easily overbalance the sense of loss. Mary is predeceased by her husband Marcel, her parents Edwin and Theresa Shepherd, her brother George (Assiniboia) and brother Lloyd and sister-in-law Marion of San Diego, California; as well as her grandson Brent Grayson and son-in-law Ken Stevens. Mary is survived by her five children: Marlene Peter of Saskatoon; Shirley Grayson (Jim) of Carstairs, Alberta; Marjorie Stevens of Saskatoon; Edward LeTilley (Theresa) of Edmonton, Alberta; and Barry LeTilley (Debbie) of Moose Jaw. She was the beloved grandmother to twelve grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren. Donations in memory of Mary can be made out to St. Paul's Hospital, Saskatoon, SK. Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, July 7, 2017, at 11:00 a.m., from Piche-Hawkins-Grondin Funeral Chapels, Assiniboia, SK. Interment to follow at Mount Hope Cemetery.
