Obituary of Ruth Sproule

Ruth Irene Sproule passed away on June 29, 2017, at the Lafleche and District Health Center, at the age of 88. She was born on January 8, 1929 on the family farm in the Limerick district. She was the eldest and the only girl of six children born to Maynard Chase and Effie Marples. Her father, Maynard died at the age of 40. This was a very difficult time for the family, forcing them to sell the land, machinery, and livestock. The family moved to Limerick where Ruth's mother, Effie worked many jobs to care for her children. Ruth left school after grade nine to help out with the finances. Her first job was at the Limerick Co-op. At the age of nineteen, she relocated to Regina and worked for Sherwood Co-op. In 1952, she married her soul mate Keith Sproule. They raised their five children on the Sproule homestead south of Lafleche. Ruth was a wonderful cook, baker and host. Serving up great food and drinks at family gatherings and card parties. The coffee was always on, and of course served with cookies, doughnuts and cinnamon buns. Ruth was involved in community events, the UCW and loved to sing in the choir. For over thirty-five years, summers were spent at Clearwater Lake, enjoying the company of friends and family. Ruth was never afraid to just have fun, tears of laughter were often shed. Ruth and Keith lived on the farm for sixty-five years together with "Joie De Vivre". They developed many loves; family, friends, dancing, and travelling the world from Australia to Hawaii. Once Keith retired, their mutual love for golf made for many trips to Canyon Lake, Texas and British Columbia. Ruth, you blessed all who knew you with love, light and laughter. We love and thank you Ruth. You will be dearly missed, and your spirit will be forever in our hearts. Ruth is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Keith Sproule and her son, Clayton (Corinne) Sproule, grandchildren Jeremy, Jen (Jeff),and Heather (Richard). Great grandchildren Alaya, Lahani, Arianna, Nathan, Braxton. Son Dale (Deborah) Sproule, grandson Andy. Son Glenn (Sherri) Sproule, grandchildren Jacobie (Tyler), Sammi (Rob), Laurenne (Adam), great grandchildren Revan, Darian, Hunter, Harper, Chase, Brody, Sawyer. Son Tim (Janet) Sproule, grandsons Trevor, Jason, Kaleb. Daughter Anne Sproule, grandchildren Cassy (Andy), Evan, Dana, Nina. A Funeral Service was held on Tuesday, July 4, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Lafleche United Church with Neil Gilbert officiating. Urn Bearer was Jacobie Bosch. Readers were Tim Sproule, Dale Sproule, and Clayton Sproule. Eulogists were Anne Sproule and Glenn Sproule. The interment took place at the Lafleche Municipal Cemetery. Memorial donations in Ruth's memory to Lafleche United Church were greatly appreciated.
