Obituary of Gerald Piche
Gérald Piché died peacefully on August 10, 2017,
after a four year battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
Gérald was born July 21, 1935, in Gravelbourg to
Oscar Piché and Blanche Bérubé. He was the
youngest of four children; Alice, Leo, and Jeannine.
Gérald married the love of his life Irène Arguin on
April 2, 1956, and shortly thereafter they took over the
family farm. They were blessed with five children; Lynn,
Gisèle, Rita, Colin, and Gaëtan.
Gérald enjoyed farming, unfortunately at the age of
27 he lost his left hand in a combine accident but
persevered with the help of his wife, his dad, and his
children. He was very proud as the farm celebrated it’s
centennial anniversary in July of 2016.
Over the years Gérald enjoyed coaching hockey,
helping his sons with farming, visiting and playing cards
with friends as well as travelling south in the winter to
play golf with his buddies and enjoying happy hours on
their deck.
Gérald loved his family, his favourite saying to his
grandchildren was "It’s a privilege to work” and he was
so proud as he listened to them talk about their careers.
Irène and family would like to thank all the staff at the
Garden Grove wing of Providence Place in Moose Jaw,
Wascana Rehabilitation Centre in Regina, as well as
the staff at the Foyer d’Youville in Gravelbourg. Their
patience and caring for dad as he dealt with this
horrible disease was very much appreciated.
Gérald will be sadly missed.
