Obituary of Betty Klein
Betty (McRae) Klein of Lafleche, SK died peacefully at home on September 19, 2017, at the age of 93 years. Betty was the second and youngest child of John and Elizabeth McRae. Betty was born March 16, 1924 in Edinburgh, Scotland. During the Second World War Betty met her soul mate George Klein on a train in Edinburgh. On March 4, 1944 Betty and George were married in England. In August of 1945, George returned to Canada and in 1946 Betty immigrated to Canada. They made their home in Lafleche and farmed in the Flintoft and Stonehenge district. George passed away in 1962 and Betty went to work in the doctor’s office in 1963 retiring in 1992. She worked for Dr. D.B. Hennessey, Dr. C.L.W. Draper, and Dr. T.D. Coneys. Betty continued to farm the land and travelled occasionally to Scotland to visit relatives. She enjoyed gardening and reading in her retirement. Betty was recognized with a lifetime membership award from the Legion Ladies Auxiliary. Betty is survived by her son Glenn (Myriam) Klein, grandson Jeremy Klein (Erika), grandson Andrés (Candace) Klein and greatgrandchildren Connor & Sasha, granddaughter Jennifer (Markus) Blenntoft, and great grandchildren Kerstin & Jake; daughter Heather (Grant) Lavoy, granddaughter Rochelle Lavoy; daughter Sheila Klein. She is predeceased by her husband George Klein (1962), son Gordie Klein (1969); sister Anne (Davie) MacKay. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, September 22, 2017, at 2:00 pm in the Lafleche United Church with Neil Gilbert officiating. Music was shared by the Lafleche United Church Choir accompanied by Kay Mitchell. Urn Bearers were Rochelle Lavoy and Jeremy Klein. Interment Lafleche RC Cemetery. Memorial Tributes in Betty’s memory may be given to the Wood River First Responders Box 206 Lafleche, SK, S0H 2K0.
