Obituary of Lucille Lizee

Lucille Lizée nee Parent Lucille Bernadette Lizée of Regina, SK and formerly of Gravelbourg, SK passed away at the Regina General Hospital, with family at her side, on October 6th, 2017 at the age of 89 years. Lucille was born on the farm in the Meyronne district to Léon Parent and Aurore Dupuis on the 15th of January 1928. She had four brothers, George, Lucien, Ernest, and Hubert. As a child, she attended the Glenarchy country school. Lucille lived through the adversity of the dirty thirties and the poverty it brought during the years. As a teenager her brother Lucien and her father died. This was a difficult time. She attended school at the Lafleche and at the age of 15, she and her mother moved to Gravelbourg to work and support themselves. Moving to Gravelbourg was a turning point in Lucille’s life. She was fortunate to attend a function at the Lizée homestead and this is where she met her husband and soulmate Gérard Lizée . They were married on June 5th, 1947 in Gravelbourg, They were blessed with 67 years of marriage before his passing on October 6, 2014. Gérard and Lucille settled on a farm site immediately north of the Lizée home place and spent the next twenty-seven years raising their nine children. Lucille was a wonderful cook and would prepare fancy dishes for birthdays and special occasions. She and Gérard enjoyed playing cards and square dancing. The farm was sold in 1974 when the land value took a rise and Gérard ’s health was being challenged. Lucille and Gérard then moved to Gravelbourg. They acquired a motorhome and travelled across the country and the US visiting family and friends. In 1975, they relocated to Penticton where they enjoyed the mild climate for 17 years. By 1992, Lucille’s mom required more care, so they moved to Regina. Lucille enjoyed reading, doing crossword puzzles and truly loved to have her family visit. She will be dearly missed. She is survived by her children Paul-Donna, Real-Rose, Guy-Debbie, Andre-Yvonne, Louise Brewer-Ernest, Roland-Miguela, Richard-Jacinte, and Laurette Vike-numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
