Obituary of Lois Peutert

Lois Peutert (nee Day) passed away on December 8, 2017, at the Dr. F. H. Wigmore Regional Hospital, Moose Jaw, SK, at the age 83. She was the eldest and only daughter of Bill and Rhonda Day. She was born on May 27, 1934, on the family farm SE-8-23-21-W2 in the RM of McKillop. After attending school in Bulyea, Lois worked in Regina at The Grey Nuns Hospital, Saskatchewan Wheat Pool and BA Oil. Lois married Fritz Peutert in 1959 and settled on the farm in the Stonehenge, district. They welcomed two sons. Stan was born in 1962 and Glen in 1964. She was an avid gardener. She enjoyed watching the Blue Jays and curling on TV. She loved being involved with her community, whether it be playing cards, curling, or with the 4-H club. The bonds of friendship made through these activities lasted a lifetime. After retiring to Assiniboia in the 80’s Lois’ love of people led her to Mary Kay Cosmetics, she loved the new venture as it introduced her to many friends and kept her busy. Later in the 90s, Lois found herself a gentleman cowboy in Vete Dombowsky. She moved to his ranch near Granam, Alberta where she found a new interest in Cowboy Poetry. She enjoyed the ranch life again, with a few cattle and even got riding horses a bit. They enjoyed each other’s company for several years until Vete’s passing in 2004. Lois returned to Assiniboia to be closer to her family. She had a battle with cancer which had residual physical effects, particularly to her left arm, this made it more difficult for her to do day to day tasks. But with the help of family, friends and neighbors she was able to live independently until December of 2016 at which time her health made it necessary for her to move to the Grassland Health Center in Rockglen. Lois is survived by her family, son Stan (Sandra) Peutert, grandchildren Chance and Jaycee; son Glen Peutert, granddaughter Makaila; brother Vern (Marion) Day; nephew Ryan (Sandy) Day and family; niece Tanya (Mark) Heisler and family. She is predeceased by her parents Bill and Rhonda Day; daughter-in-law Marcella Peutert (2008).
