Obituary of Denis Boire

Jean Denis Alcide Boire of Gravelbourg, SK, passed away on Friday, December 15, 2017, at the age of 81 years. Denis was born on November 16, 1936, in Gravelbourg, SK, the 10th child of Alcide and Claudia (nee Saulnier) Boire. Denis attended Lefort School east of Gravelbourg and worked with his siblings on the farm. Based on the experience acquired as a young boy Denis continued the family tradition of farming. He married Lucille Legault on October 15, 1958, in Pontiex, SK. They took up residence on a farm seven miles northeast of Gravelbourg. There they raised their four sons, Alain, Donald, Gilles and Adrien. Along with farming, much of Denis time and energy were spent raising cattle, doing various carpentry, welding, electrical and mechanical jobs. However, Denis' greatest passion was running heavy equipment, especially the Track Hoe. He took great pride in his work whether he was digging a dugout or demolishing of a building, he was meticulous and found great satisfaction in a job well done. Denis' customers also appreciated the detail in his work and his warm, friendly personality. Denis was also very active in the Gravelbourg community. He was a member of the Lions Club, Parish Council and Knight of Columbus. He served on the Southland Co-op Board, St. Joseph Hospital/Foyer d'Youville Board, and was the Director of the Grain Elevator. Denis enjoyed square and round dancing with Lucille, curling with his sons, helping them with their various projects and treasured time spent with his grandchildren. He had a wonderful sense of humour, a social bug who loved to joke and tease. He will be dearly missed. Denis is survived by his loving family, wife Lucille of 59 years; son Alain (Cindy) Boire, grandchildren Stephanie (Brentt), Rene (Samantha); son Donald (Colette) Boire, granddaughter Dawn (Ryan), great granddaughter Estelle, grandson Dominic (Megan), great grandson Eli, grandson Dustin (Delanie); son Gilles (Angie) Boire, grandson Tineil (Raven), great grandchildren Oaklee and Graynger, granddaughter Jaylene (Ben), great grandchildren Braxtyn, Tenley and Feenix, granddaughter Odessa (Jason), great grandchildren Brinleigh and Graham; son Adrien (Leanne) Boire, granddaughter Malinda (Marcel), great grandchildren Charlie and Gavin, grandson Justin, grandson Mark (Taylor), grandson Ryan; siblings Germaine Houle, Lionel (Ann) Boire, Marcel (Therese) Boire, Victor (Lorraine) Baron; brother-in -law Jude Boulianne; sisters-in-law Odile Boire (Ray Boutin), Marguerite Boire; numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his father Aclide Boire and mother Claudia Boire; step-father Theophile Baron; siblings Albert Boire, Rita (Joe) Schwab, Therese Nagel, Adrien Boire, Gerard Boire Ernest (Therese) Boire, Yvonne Boulianne. A Private Family Funeral Service was held on Friday, December 29, 2017, and a community reception followed, at the École Mathieu Hall, Gravelbourg, SK. The officiant was Fern Bouvier. The cross bearer was Dawn Dyck. The urn bearer was Ryan Boire. The eulogy was shared by Alain Boire and Adrian Schwab. A guard of honour was formed by the Knights of Columbus and the Gravelbourg Lions Club Interment Gravelbourg Roman Catholic Cemetery. Memorial donations in memory of Denis to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, 279 3rd Ave. N., Saskatoon, SK S7K 2H8 were greatly appreciated.
