Obituary of Mike Lech
Michael "Mike" Thomas Lech beloved husband of Yvette Lea Rosilda Lech (nee Delorme) of Calgary, was born November 11, 1924 and passed away on February 17, 2018 at the age of 93 years.
Mike had a love of farming in the rural area of Glen Bain, Sask. In 1987, Mike retired from the UGG elevator after thirty-five years and became a full time farmer. He worked tirelessly to raise and educate his five children. Mike and Yvette built their retirement home in Swift Current SK in 2001. They moved to Gravelbourg to be closer to their family in 2009. The family moved Mike and Yvette to Calgary to be cared for by their daughters for health support and senior care in 2013. The last three years, Mike spent at the long term care facility of New Port Harbour, where he was well cared for by his companion and friend, Joe Corral, and all the staff at NPH. Special acknowledgement to Maynn his nurse. During their sixty-nine years of marriage, Mike and Yvette were totally in love and devoted to each other.
Mike is survived by his devoted wife of sixty-nine years Yvette; five children, Philip (Irene), Cheryl (Vince), Rosemarie (Toni), Catherine (Kirk), David (Renae); eleven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren, and his loving sister Rose Bourgeois (Little Sam), and his favorite niece, Margie Krauchek.
Mike was predeceased by his grandson Josi Parrotta, his eleven siblings, John, Joe, Stanley, Walter, Frances, Andrew, Helen, Adam, Clara, Mary, Fred and nephews.
Prayers were held at McInnis & Holloway Funeral Chapel in Calgary, AB on Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. Prayers were celebrated by Father Bogdan Sianzecki. Readers and tributes given by Michael's family. Music by Selina Wong-Parrotta, Brendon Wood and Ingrid Odegard.
Funeral Mass was celebrated at Our Lady of Assumption Co-Cathedral in Gravelbourg, SK on Friday, February 23, 2018 at 11:00 a.m, with Father Maurice Minne celebrant. Readers were Michelle Lech and Laurie Bourgeois-Thibault. Prayer of the faithful was read by Laurie Bourgeois-Thibault. Gift Bearers were David Lech and Renae Lech. Tribute was shared by Michael's family. Pallbearers were Vince Parrotta, Kirk Kluchka, Jonathan Suehwold, Wayne Rosenfelt, John Lech and Gerald Delorme. Interment at St. Matthias Cemetery, Glen Bain, SK.
Memorial donations in memory of Mike were gratefully accepted for the Alzheimer Society.
