She is also survived by her sister Norma (Larry) Penner Judy, sisters-in-law Ruth Nergard, Sharon Nergard, and brother-in-law Ray Kvile. Lillie was born to B.K. and Bertha Nergard March 20, 1927, on her Grandpa Jensen’s farm in the Bengough District. She married Nickolas Hazen in 1948; they had four children and 63 years together. Lillie helped with the farming, grew a large garden of vegetables, strawberries and flowers. One of Lillie’s favourite past times was playing cards and visiting with friends and family, many hours were passed and good times had. Nick and Lil loved to fish, camp and travel to see friends and relatives across Canada and the U.S. If you were to stop by the Hazen household you were sure to be met with a coffee and a good visit. Lillie was known to be the family historian, she was a wealth of information for dates, names, places or whatever information that you might need, even when her health started declining her memory never failed her. As per Lillie’s wishes there will be no funeral. Interment will be later in the spring. Anyone wishing to make a donation in Lillie’s memory may do so to the Bengough Twilight Home Auxiliary.
