Obituary of Carmen Reader

It is with deep sadness the family of Carmen Louise Reader announce her passing on March 7, 2018, at the age of 40 years. Carmen Louise Reader was the youngest child and only daughter born to Dale and Sheryl (nee Jones) Reader. She was born on April 15, 1977, in Regina, SK. Carmen’s early years were spent with her parents and older brother Daryl on the family farm, south of Woodrow, SK. In 1980, the family purchased a home in Moose Jaw allowing Carman to attend Palliser School and later Riverview Collegiate as well as SIAST Palliser Campus. After completing school Carmen went to work at Diversified Services. Carmen always loved to return to the family farm on weekends and vacations. She loved spending time with her grandparents, having supper in the field, riding in the combine, helping her Mom with housework, and hauling bales for the cattle with her Dad and Daryl. Each spring Carmen and Daryl would claim one calf as their own. She loved animals, especially her many dogs: Speckie, JJ, Peppy, Duchess and her most recent faithful companion Maggie. It was always difficult for her to leave her furry friends and return to Moose Jaw. As an adult Carmen was supported by Community Living and enjoyed living independently in her own basement apartment with the support of her cousins Sheila and Reg Reimche. Carmen relocated to Liz Steen’s care residence. She made many lasting friendships with her care givers and the residents. She liked to participate in bowling, loved to dance, going to the Warrior hockey games, attending Camp Thunderchild and Camp Easter Seal. She enjoyed playing cards and was extremely lucky at Yahtzee. Carmen will be dearly missed by her friends and family. Carmen is survived by her loving family parents Dale and Sheryl (nee Jones) Reader; brother Daryl Reader; grandmother Joy Jones; uncles Dale Jones, Bob (Shelley) Jones; aunts Linda (Murray) McCrank, Debra (Rick) Olliver; numerous cousins and friends. She is predeceased by her grandparents Harry and Helen Reader; grandfather Lloyd Jones; uncle Wayne Reader. Funeral Service was held Tuesday, March 13, 2018, 2:00 p.m. at Hillcrest Apostolic Church in Moose Jaw, SK, with Barry Holtstlander officiating. Scripture Readers were Dalise Hector and Kerri Niemitalo. Music by Shelley Jones, Becky Jo Jones, Sheyae Reader, Skylae Reader, Tkeyae Reader, Kim and Mackenzie Kent. Eulogy given by Reg Reimche. Honorary Pallbearers were Carmen’s Friends. Active Pallbearers were Jesse Levay, Cody Jones, Scott Olliver, Trent Olliver, Brennan Jones and Brayden Jones. Interment at Woodrow Municipal Cemetery.
