Obituary of Walter Kruszelnicki

Walter Kruszelnicki, a resident of the Glen Bain district, widower of Olga Alexandra, entered eternal life peacefully on March 25, 2018, at the age of 88 years, 11 months, 21 days old. Walter was born on April 14, 1929, on the family farm in the Esme district and was baptized a few days later at the Ukrainian Catholic Church. Walter was the youngest of four children born to John and Julianna (nee Holinski) Kruszelnicki. Walter started school at Harold School. In the third grade the family moved to the Arnold School district, where he attended until high school, then completed a year in Yorkton and a year in Vanguard. He then took a welding course in Winnipeg and worked for the CPR for a short while before returning to farm with his dad. Walter also drove school bus and bombardier for 15 years to Glen Bain and Kincaid and sold Fuller Brush and Watkins in his younger years. He was founding member of the Glen Bain Lions Club and served on the Glen Bain recreation board for serval years. Walter enjoyed always being an active member of the community. Walter was married on July 25, 1954, to Olga Alexandra Shopa. They were blessed with four children, three grandchildren and one great grandchild with another on the way. Walter resided on the family farm until he fell and was admitted to Gravelbourg nursing home just before New Year’s 2018. Walter was predeceased by his parents John and Julianna (nee Holinski) Kruszelnicki; wife Olga Kruszelnicki (nee Shopa); daughter Marie Elaine Morar (nee Kruszelnicki); brothers Joe Kruszelnicki and Steve Krushelniski. He leaves to mourn his passing his son Murry Walter Kruszelnicki who still resides on the family farm at Glen Bain; his daughter Ann (Terry) Popowich of Yorkton, grandson Michael (Lana) Popowich who are expecting their first child in May; granddaughter Kellsey (Dillon) Stabner , and great grandchild Hudson; granddaughter Bailey Popowich (Kurtis Decker); daughter Carolynn Kruszelnicki of Regina; sister Mary Knaap of Medicine Hat; sisters-in-law Ada Kruszelnicki and Eva Krushelniski; numerous nieces, nephews relatives, friends and neighbors. Funeral Mass was held Thursday, March 29, 2018, at the St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, Vanguard, Saskatchewan with Father Guy Amedee celebrant. The cross bearer was Jeff Hornug. Readers were Bailey Popowich and Michael Popowich. Prayers of the faithful done by Lana Popowich. Eulogy was given by Kellsey Stabner. Pallbearers were Michael Popowich, Dillon Stabner, Kurtis Decker, Norman Miller, Conrad Dash and Wayne Knaap. Interment was at the Vanguard Cemetery. Memorial donations in memory of Walter were greatly appreciated for the Glen Bain Lions Club.
