Obituary of Mildred Haubrich

Mildred Elizabeth Haubrich of Swift Current, SK passed away on Sunday, April 22, 2018, at the age of 84. Mildred born September 15, 1933, in Vanguard. She was the second youngest of five children born to Christian and Eva (nee Schwartz) Gaspers. Mildred grew up on the family homestead outside of Hallonquist. In 1943 the family moved to Vanguard, where Mildred attended elementary school. In 1947 they moved to Swift Current, and Mildred finished her schooling at the Convent. She later worked as a telephone operator. Mildred married Edwin Haubrich on October 13, 1953. They lived and farmed in the Hodgeville district and raised four children, Gwen, Lavonne, Conrad, and Shelley. She volunteered with the figure skating club and was a member of the CWL and Royal Purple. Mildred worked hard to maintain her yard, large vegetable garden, and flower gardens, as this was always important to her. She loved to sew, cook, curl, fish, and garden, when not helping Edwin on the farm. Special events and holidays with family were her favourite.
