Obituary of Kevin Tendler

Kevin John Tendler passed away on May 15, 2018, at the age of 59. Kevin was born on April 1, 1959, in Assiniboia, SK. He was raised on a farm three miles north of Viceroy, SK, by his parents Ed and Joyce Tendler. Kevin grew up as a stellar athlete with a love for sports, especially hockey, baseball, and football. He pursued hockey in Moose Jaw, which led him to his wife, Lynn. He then played three years for the Saskatoon Blades before moving back to resume his lifelong passion for farming. Kevin was actively involved in his community and in all aspects of his children's many activities. He retired in 2012 and moved to Assiniboia, where he enjoyed living life to its fullest. Kevin will always be remembered for his love of traveling around the world, floating on his pontoon boat, and spreading his infectious smile and big bear hugs. Kevin is survived by his wife Lynn Tendler (nee Albert); son Jereme (Alicia) Tendler, grandchildren Myles and Tristan; daughter Jade Tendler (Brady Richmond), granddaughter Piper; brother Ron (Carrie) Tendler; sister Sharon (Ed) McCann; sister-in-law Debbie Tendler; mother-in-law Mary Albert; sister-in-law Barb Currie; brothers-in-law Mark Albert (Kerry Kirkpatrick) and Paul Albert; numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents John Edward and Joyce Rosemary (nee Klein) Tendler; brother Thomas Tendler; niece Brandee McCann; father-in-law Bruce Albert; and brother-in-law Bruce Albert. Funeral Service was held on Monday, May 21, 2018, 2:00 p.m., at the Prince of Wales Cultural Centre Auditorium, Assiniboia, with Father Dennis Remot celebrant. Readers were Jill McDougall, Krisa Nataraj, and Mark Albert. Vocalist Lois Marit was accompanied by guitarist Jon Seeley and pianist Doraine Empson. The eulogy was shared by Kent Blythe. Poem, "God Made a Farmer for Several Reasons" was read by Sharon McCann. Honourary pallbearers were "Everyone who shared in Kevin’s life.” Active pallbearers were Troy Tendler, Kevin Klemenz, Jeff Weal, Bernard Joyal, Lee Pearson, Dan Erickson, Eldon Turner, and Scott Shenher. Interment took place at Mount Hope Cemetery. Memorial donations in memory of Kevin may be made to the Huntington Society of Canada, Suite 400, 151 Frederick St., Kitchener, ON N2H 2M2 or the Diabetes Association of Saskatchewan, 917 Albert St., Regina, SK S4R 2P6.
