Obituary of Melissa Jones

Melissa Loretta Jones of Moose Jaw, SK passed away on July 12, 2018, at the age of 32. Melissa was born on December 15, 1985, in Calgary, AB. She attended Forest Lawn High School and Mount Royal College in Calgary. Melissa was a talented musician and played clarinet in the school band. She also enjoyed being on the basketball team in high school. She worked at Pizza Hut, the Movie Dome, and Canadian Tire. In 2003, Melissa travelled to Europe after her graduation. She also enjoyed trips to New Zealand and California with her family. Melissa had a strong faith, She attended church and often prayed the Our Father. Melissa was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 2002. She battled her disease with determination and courage. In 2008, Melissa moved to Providence Place in Moose Jaw. She felt blessed to be a bridesmaid at her sister's wedding on June 30, 2018. Melissa was an inspiration to all those who knew her and will be dearly missed. Melissa is survived by her loving family, birth mother Laura Jones (Russ); mom Mona Vandurme (Jack); sister Tiffany Carlson (Chad); step brother Vincent Vandurme (Michelle); step brother Donald Vandurme; grandpa Ron Earl (Reta); auntie Joyce Jorgensen; 3 nephews and one niece. She is predeceased by her grandma Carol Jones; and grandma Geraldine Earl. Funeral Service was held on Saturday, July 21, 2018, 2:00 p.m., at Cornerstone Gospel Church, Mossbank, SK, with Pastor Marty Johnson officiant. Interment will take place on Saturday, August 25, 2018, Calgary, AB. Memorial donations in memory of Melissa may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada - Saskatchewan Division, 150 Albert Street, Regina, SK S4R 2N2.
