Obituary of Joyce Kindt

Joyce Lorraine Kindt of Assiniboia, SK, passed away peacefully with family by her side on Monday, July 23, 2018, at the age of 88 years. Joyce was born on July 4, 1930, in Outlook, SK, to Harvey and Leota (nee Williams) Leaver. She married Bob Kindt on October 7, 1953, and they were blessed with two children, Dale and Allison. They made their home and farmed north of Assiniboia. Joyce jumped right into farm life, working side by side with Bob. She ran the baler during haying season, the combine during harvest, and cooked meals for the combine crew, retiring from this job within the last 5 years. She was an amazing cook, and always had a large garden. When Joyce harvested her garden, she would freeze vegetables for the winter, can fruit, and make jams and jellies. Only two months ago Joyce made 17 jars of rhubarb and strawberry jam. She made the best buns and chocolate chip cookies, and was famous for her lemon pie, brownies, and homemade mustard. Joyce and Bob’s home was always filled with love. Music was important to Joyce and she played the piano beautifully. Her hands were never still, and she spent many hours doing needle point pictures and wall hangings. Joyce loved knitting, from si-wash sweaters to numerous baby sets and later learned Swedish weaving. She was a member of the Assiniboia Kinettes and K-Ettes, and secretary for many years. Joyce was also an IODE Legion member and secretary, and a member of Chapter #8 Order of the Eastern Star for over 40 years. Joyce loved playing cards, bowling, snowmobiling, playing Nintendo Wii bowling, and numerous Bumps games with friends. She especially enjoying taking Allison on in a game of cribbage, and always came out as the winner! Joyce and Bob loved to travel together and spent their winters in Arizona for 27 years. Joyce was a wonderful wife and caregiver to Bob, and the love, affection and devotion they shared was amazing. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Joyce is survived by her loving husband of 65 years Bob Kindt; son Dale Kindt; daughter Allison (David) Krogedal, very special grandson Hunter Krogedal; sister Donna (Allan) Lowes; sisters-in-law Lois Harris, Diane (Roger) Marchand; numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Harvey and Leota Leaver; sister Iris McKenzie; and brother Wayne Leaver. Celebration of Life was held on Saturday, July 28, 2018, 1:30 p.m., at St. George’s Roman Catholic Church, Assiniboia, SK, with Les Wilcock officiant. The urn bearer and eulogist was Joyce’s cherished grandson Hunter Krogedal. An honour guard was formed by the Order of the Eastern Star. Family interment took place at Emmanuel Prairie Gardens.
