Obituary of Margaret CORBIN
Margaret May Corbin (nee Smithburg) of Aneroid, SK, passed away on Monday, August 12, 2013, at the age of 97 years. Margaret was born on July 7, 1916, at the family farm eighteen miles south of Aneroid in the Wallard district. She was the second of three daughters born to Walter and Gertrude (nee Hanson) Smithburg. On May 11, 1940, Margaret married Stan Corbin, the eldest son of Ernie and Laura Corbin. They were blessed with six children, Darlene, Doreen, Carol, Bev, Sharon and Dennis. Margaret took great pride in raising her children. She spent many hours sewing homemade clothes for them, and later pajamas for her grandchildren. She loved flowers and creating flower arrangements; Margaret also made many beautiful wedding bouquets. She was a great cook, wonderful gardener and had a love of animals, especially cats. In 2007, Margaret and Stan moved to Assiniboia with their two cats, Fluff and Ginger. On May 7, 2009, Stan passed away, and Margaret remained to live independently until 2011, when she moved to the Lafleche & District Health Centre. Margaret will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by her family and friends. Margaret is survived by her loving family, daughter Darlene Bachman; daughter Doreen (Jack) Rainey; daughter Carol Ulm; daughter Bev Reisdorf; daughter Sharon (Frank) Phillips; son Dennis (Diane) Corbin; 18 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren; sisters Pearl Randal and Mildred James. Predeceased by her husband Stanley Corbin (2009); parents Walter and Gertrude (Hanson) Smithburg; sons-in-law Bob Bachman, Calvin Ulm, Wilf Reisdorf; brothers-in-law Wilmer Randal and Fred James. Funeral Service was held on Monday, August 19, 2013, at 1:00 p.m., at the Aneroid Centennial Hall, Aneroid, SK, with Lori Klein officiant. The eulogy was shared by Art Wright. Music by the Faith Bachman. Urn bearer was Dennis Corbin. Interment took place at the Aneroid Cemetery.
