Obituary of Paul Lalonde

Paul Victor Lalonde of Gravelbourg, Saskatchewan passed away with his family by his side on September 13, 2018. Paul, the eldest son to Victor and Eunice (nee Nelson) Lalonde, was born November 22, 1952, in Lafleche, Saskatchewan. Paul was raised on the family farm southwest of Meyronne, where he spent his days helping his father with the day to day operations of the farm; even at a young age he especially enjoyed working with animals. At the age of 5, he started school in Meyronne and later transferred to Kincaid school where he completed his grade 12. Paul then moved to Moose Jaw in order to continue his education at STI, where he completed his mechanic course. Paul went on to work as a mechanic over approximately the next 10 years in Kincaid for Frostad Garage, in Mankota for Mankota Trading, and in Vanguard for R & R Motors. In 1981 he began his career with the Department of Highways and Infrastructure, where he worked for 36 years until his retirement on June 30, 2017. On February 20, 1982, Paul married the love of his life, Louise Lagasse. They began married life in their house trailer but soon bought another home. After a few years and children later, Paul and Louise demolished there 2 story home and purchased a larger 6 bedroom home in order to accommodate their growing family. For the next 28 years this would be the home they shared as they raised their 5 children together and enjoyed their 8 grandchildren. Paul's family meant the world to him. He spent most of his time with his children and grandchildren, and daily visits to his grandchildren were part of his normal routine. Paul was predeceased by his grandparents Stanislus and Marguerite Lalonde and Lawrence and Ruth Nelson; and also by his mother-in-law Gisele Lagasse. Paul will be deeply missed by his wife of 37 years Louise Lalonde; children Suzanne Lalonde, Andrea (Andrew) Produniuk, Paulette (Denis) Dumonceaux, Nicole (Eric) Simard and RéJean Lalonde; 8 grandchildren Emilie and Nicholas Sawatsky, Claire Produniuk, Renée, Zoé and Josée Dumonceaux, Gavin and Xander Simard; parents Victor and Eunice Lalonde; father-in-law Emile Lagasse; brothers Adrian, Maurice, Richard and Jules; sisters Jean Clermont and Angeline Boire; 5 sisters-in-law and 4 brothers-in-law; and numerous nieces and nephews. Paul's celebration of life was held on September 21, 2018, at Our Lady of the Assumption Co-Cathedral, Gravelbourg Saskatchewan, with Paul's cousin Pastor Linda Hall officiating. The eulogy was shared by his daughter Suzanne Lalonde. Readers were his sister Jean Clermont and daughter Andrea Produniuk, Urn bearer was son RéJean Lalonde. Honorary pallbearers were his beloved grandchildren. The family would like to send a warm thank you to each of the members of the Department of Highways for the gracious honor guard they formed at the service.
