Obituary of Gerard BOIRE

Gerard Rene Boire of Gravelbourg, SK, passed away on Friday, August 16, 2013, at the age of 83 years. Gerard was born on December 6, 1929, in Gravelbourg, SK, the sixth child of Alcide and Claudia (nee Saulnier) Boire. Gerard attended Lefort School east of Gravelbourg on #43 highway. In the spring and fall he walked and in the winter months travelled by horse and sleigh. Gerard married Marguerite Gauthier in 1953 and they were blessed with four daughters, Therese, Rosalie, JoAnne and Brigitte. Gerard spent a year in Calgary then realized the city was not for him and returned to Gravelbourg. He farmed for seven years north of town and then began his career in carpentry. As a contractor, he left his mark in Gravelbourg on many of the streets and buildings. Gerard built a home for his family and also a cabin at Gaumond Bay, where he enjoyed fishing. He had an excellent work ethic and could be defined as a workaholic; it was what he knew and did well. He was a gentle soul with a sense of humour, though sometimes a bit quirky, and he loved to laugh and tease. Gerard had much love in his heart and his family came first, above all else, and even above himself. Gerard truly did his best in the game of life and he will be deeply missed. Gerard is survived by his loving family, wife Marguerite (nee Gauthier) of 60 years; daughter Therese (Roland) LeBlanc, grandson Joel (Kristi), granddaughter Chantal (Cory) Hewko, great grandchildren Solara, Ryker; daughter Rosalie (Bruce) Kinshella, granddaughter Valerie Millette (Neil Versavel), great granddaughter Melodie, grandson Christopher Millette; daughter JoAnne (Lyle) Lisitza, grandson Brandon, granddaughter Aryn; daughter Brigitte Bardick, grandson Robert, granddaughter Megan; siblings Germaine Houle, Lionel (Ann) Boire, Marcel (Therese) Boire, Denis (Lucille) Boire, Victor (Lorraine) Baron, Yvonne (Jude) Boulianne; sister-in-law Odile Boire. Predeceased by his father Aclide Boire and mother Claudia Boire; step-father Theophile Baron; son-in-law Gerard Millette; siblings Albert Boire, Rita (Joe) Schwaab, Therese Nagel, Adrien Boire, Ernest (Therese) Boire. Prayers were held on Tuesday, August 20, 2013, at 7:30 p.m., with Father Maurice Minne celebrant, and Funeral Mass on Wednesday, August 21, 2013, at 2:00 p.m., with Father Joseph Strohhofer celebrant, both at Our Lady of the Assumption Co-Cathedral, Gravelbourg, SK . Cross bearers were Valerie Millette and Chantal Hewko. Altar servers were Denis and Lucille Boire. The eulogy was shared by Brigitte Bardick. Readers were Valerie Millette and Chantal Hewko. Prayers of the faithful were read by Joel LeBlanc and Christopher Millette. Offertory gifts were presented by Aryn Lisitza, Megan Bardick, Brandon Lisitza and Robert Bardick .Flowerbearer was Roland LeBlanc. Pallbearers were Bruce Kinshella, Christopher Millette, Lyle Lisitza, Brandon Lisitza, Joel LeBlanc and Robert Bardick. Interment took place at the Gravelbourg Roman Catholic Cemetery.
