Obituary of John Fritz

John Leo Paul Fritz of Swift Current, SK and formerly of Hodgeville, SK passed away on Wednesday, December 5, 2018, at the age of 79 years. John was born on November 26, 1939, at Vogel, SK, to Arthur and Margaret (nee Stoppler) Fritz. John grew up and attended school at Hodgeville. He met Barbara Johnson while she was working at the hospital in Hodgeville. John and Barbara were married on June 25, 1960, and they were blessed with five children. John was a mechanic at Vern’s Repair Shop in Hodgeville. He drove school bus for over twenty years, and later the Co-op fuel truck. He was the custodian at the Hodgeville Elementary School for three years, and also spent time bartending. John enjoyed hunting, fishing, and collecting hockey cards. He loved to cook and made excellent Chinese food, roasts, and pies. He also made his own sausage and jerky. Barbara passed away in 2004, and John moved to Swift Current in 2007. There, he enjoyed tending to his vegetable garden and flowers. John will be missed by his family and friends. John is survived by his daughter Glenda Fritz (Rod Kirkpatrick), grandson Kent (Tammy), great grandchildren Brayden, Kylie, Kloe, grandson Devan (Michelle); daughter Anita (Brian) Platt, grandchildren Amber, Lindsay; son Sheldon (Belinda) Fritz, granddaughter Jenn (Matt); daughter Lisa Fritz (Kevin Yaskow), grandson Tyler; daughter Cheryl (Scott) King; sister Dorrine Rhiendel; cousin Jean Dayne and close friend Irene Kazakoff. Family interment will take place at a later date.
