My condolences to the family of Roy H. Bailey. What an amazing story. He was a hardworking man indeed. I especially liked the part that said he let every aspect of his life be guided by christian morals. Losing a loved one is death is perhaps the worst experience mankind has to deal with. Some blame God for such calamities befalling us. However , the Bible says that God is love. Instead of causing us pain , he promises to rid the world of suffering . Death included. Revelation(apocalypse) 21:4 says"And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away." In fact, there will even be a rising from death, resurrection here one earth. You can find this promise in Acts 24:15. " And I have hope toward God, which hope these men also look forward to, that there is going to be a resurrection of both the righteous and the unrighteous" Where will the righteous live ? Psalm 37:29 tells us "The righteous will possess the earth, And they will live forever on it." I truly hope these words from the word of God have served to comfort you. Please, pray to Jehovah God to find out more of his comforting thoughts through the Bible.

The connections between the MacLeod family and the Bailey family go back a long way. My dad's father had a homestead near Bengough and my dad was a brother-in-law of Roy's Uncle Cecil Bailey. I remember trips to the Bengough Church of Christ when we lived in Ceylon in the 1950's. Later when our family moved to Saskatoon, Roy and Helen and family were part of the Saskatoon congregation while Roy attended the U of S. Roy always had a ready smile and a gracious manner and a positive outlook on life. He will be missed. Condolences from Ian and Ruth MacLeod.

Janet, Susan and families - our deepest condolences on the passing of dear Roy. Unlike others, our families memories of Roy and Helen are only from the time since 2016 when Roy and Helen were in West Park with our father/husband, Barry Fysh. Our time spent with Roy and Helen was so meaningful to all of us. You could always find Roy because he was always either whistling or singing - always a pleasure to be around. Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this sad time. Maida & Barry Fysh, Greg Fysh, Barry & Connie Ashworth.

Susan and Janet - Your Dad was so much a part of my childhood. Not that I spent much time with him, but he was just THERE - a steadying influence. So many memories of summers in Bengough, where my Dad and your Dad were away during the week. Your Mom and my Mom and the kids spending the week enjoying Bible School, sleep overs and other adventures and waiting for our Dads to come home on the week-ends. I have memories of your Dad preaching and teaching Bible classes in Bengough. Of his hearty laugh! Of he and my mother discussing politics! And of him entertaining us as children, by rolling his stomach! May the God of all comfort, ease your pain and may you have many smiles and laughs as you remember your Dad.

Roy was a big influence in our family from my mother, who worked for Roy at Harptree to helping myself get my first job in broadcasting in Rosetown then being there as a neighbour in Bengough for my 3 boys in search of cookies. I would like Susan and Janet and their families to be proud of all his achievements. There is never any discussion about our school years without including some story about your father.

May I extend my deepest sympathy to Roy’s family and friends. I worked for Roy (everyone called him Roy) when he was our Member of Parliament and was proud to do so. He was such a kind man. I remember when I had to take my trip to Ottawa, knowing I was very nervous, Roy travelled with me sitting in a crowded seat with no room for his knees. I really appreciated that consideration from him. He always thought of others before himself. May God grant him eternal rest and let perpetual light shine upon him. Amen.

Roy was simply a very fine man! He was a politician with integrity and had his constituents best interests foremost! I remember when we were early in the days of The Family Place and always needing money, he refused to take his MP increase....he sent it to us! My sympathy is with his family! Deeply saddened to hear of Roy’s passing and to think that I won’t see him again. I think if Roy were to look back on his life he would have no regrets. He preached the gospel, baptized numerous brothers and sisters in Christ, and lead many to our Savior. Thankful to have heard and learned from his sermons and to have been baptized by this man of God. “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.” - 2 Timothy 4:7-8

So sorry to the family for your loss. Years ago Roy and Helen came to visit us in BC. I had not seen Roy since I was in high school. We were sitting at our table having coffee and Roy was talking to Terrol’s mom and dad and if I had shut my eyes and listened to him speak it made me feel like I was back in the school room, the sound of his voice. Funny how certain things can take you back to memories of years ago. He was a great teacher and a great man.

Growing up he and Helen was one of my parents dearest friends. He was my biggest Mentor. I can remember as a child getting so excited when they would visit. He always had a silver dollar he would pull from his ear for me. When we became neighbors at the farm....I was a 12 year old girl who got to swing a hammer when he was building his house. He bought me my first pair of cowboy boots (I was so proud) for looking after his cows over the summer months when they were away. I will never forgot the day I when I was in grade 7 and we visited the legislature in Regina and he welcomed us in the house and said my name. He was the MC at my wedding and I was so proud. I looked up to him and was very proud to be his friend. Even in the last few years when they were in the Bentley I was excited to see him when I visited my Mother, and although he may not have remembered me I was always excited to tell him who I was because I knew in my heart that he remembered. My condolences to Helen and the family. He will forever be missed but he will always hold a place in my heart along with my greatest childhood memories.
