Obituary of Kathy Keck
Kathy Keck, beloved wife of Andrew Keck and mother of Karen Keck, passed away on Sunday, December 9, 2018 at the age of 84.
Kathy had a fulfilling career as a Registered Nurse. She was a graduate from the class of 1955 at the Grey Nun’s Hospital School of Nursing in Regina, Saskatchewan. Later, she received a Diploma in Teaching in Schools of Nursing from the University of Saskatchewan in 1965 and completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at the University of Saskatchewan in 1970.
Kathy excelled in her profession and had many gratifying experiences throughout her career. She nursed at the Indian Head Union Hospital, the Regina General Hospital, the Winnipeg Children’s Hospital and St. Vincent’s Hospital in Vancouver. Her experience and education led her to teach nursing at the Regina General Hospital School of Nursing. Later she became a nursing consultant for the Saskatchewan Hospital Association. Finally, she returned to bedside nursing for a short time at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Gravelbourg, Saskatchewan. Although she enjoyed all of the positions she held during the twenty years she nursed, it was bedside nursing that she loved the most.
In 1974, she married the love of her life, Andrew Keck, and moved to a farm near Gravelbourg, Saskatchewan. A few years after they were married, their daughter Karen Keck was born and they built a life together as a family. The joy they shared was often found in the small moments spent together – playing baseball in the front yard (which always included Kathy hitting a home run), tending the garden, riding bikes in the summer, tobogganing down "the hills” in the winter, playing bridge with family and friends, taking part in sing-songs at family gatherings, going on family vacations and attending mass on Sundays.
Kathy is survived by her loving husband, Andrew Keck, her daughter, Karen Keck, and her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, William and Hilda Keck, Anthony and Eileen Keck and Stuart and Theresa MacMillan.
Kathy was predeceased by her parents, Christina and Anton Roth; brother, Valentine Roth; sister, Rosa Roth; grandmother, Franziska Sahli and brother-in-law and sisters-in-law Peter and Gilberte Keck and Mary Keck.
There are no words to describe how deeply she will always be loved.
