I was honored to know Mr Burgess. He was a fair man, committed to his family, contributor to his area and his industry, and custodian of spectacular and unique lands. I appreciated that on my visits to the ranch he lent me a prized buckskin to ride pastures, round-up and trail stock into his corrals by the tracks tn Big Beaver. My condolences to Barbara Anne, Michael and their families. His legacy is in good hands. Also, I have fond memories of his most caring wife Mrs Ferne Burgess. They made a welcoming couple.

Heartfelt Sympathies posted a condolence
I met Edward through my step Dad Robert Chartrand as a child and young boy and stayed at Alcide Chartrand farm a couple miles South of the Burgess homestead summer during school holidays , riding horses with Alcide's son Neil and traveling from farm to farm like the Galbraith's or tasting Miss's Fry;s chicken at Orville's farm , or simply heading to the Aust's general store in Big Beaver where Alcide's Chartrand wife Masey worked and my aunt Delores lived with husband( other brother ) Co-co Chartrand. At this time I would like to extend my condolences on behalf of the Fayant family and from my mother Faye Fayant who was Fat's ( Bob Chartrand) partner for 50 years . I will never forget the pioneers and friends I made in the Big Muddy. God Bless Jerome Fayant Gatineau , Quebec

Though I didn't really know Ed well personally my Mom and Dad had nothing but praise and respect for him. Mom always looked forward to seeing him at the sales in Mankota. After reading the story of his life on the Stockgrowers page there were tears of joy for a life well lived. What a legacy they built as a couple. What a kind man. Our deepest sympathies to all of you, Louise and Wade Popescul

I want to say that Ed was a stockman with class. He was always respectful of others and was genuinely interested in what was happening in the lives of people around him. I always enjoyed a chat when we met at a cattle event. A Gem of a Man. You have my sympathy. Mark Elford.

Ed was an exceptional person. Always taking the time to engage in a meaningful conversation. He loved his Big Muddy ranch and the pride in how he managed the land and the grass is a true legacy. A life well lived!
