Gail Carmen Cornet of Gravelbourg, SK, passed away on August 21, 2013, at the age of 67 years. Gail was born in Assiniboia, SK on July 1, 1946 to Walter and Ella (nee Nelson) Sadlemeyer. Gail attended school in Vantage, and graduated high school in Assiniboia. Gail married Leon Cornet of Gravelbourg, SK, on March 30, 1974, and they were blessed with two children, Beau and Jacqueline. Shortly after their marriage, Gail and Leon moved to Whitehorse, Yukon, where Leon worked for the Copper Mines Company. Two years later they returned to Saskatchewan and resided on the farm belonging to Gail’s Dad near Mossbank. They built a new house on the farm in 1980 and the following year purchased a small house on 6th Ave. W. in Gravelbourg, where they would begin their business pursuits in insurance. As their family and business grew, Gail and Leon decided to move their house on the farm to town, and in 1986 relocated it to 4 Somerset Street in Gravelbourg. That same year, Gail and Leon built a new office building on Main Street and together with their son Beau, owned and operated Cornet Agencies Inc. Their business pursuits also included General Insurance and Real Estate. In 1992, they also had a medical clinic building erected on Main Street. Gail was a gifted poet, writer and artist. Gail was very active in the community and a member of many groups and organizations, including president of the local Chamber of Commerce, secretary of the local C.W.L., secretary of the Gravelbourg Figure Skating Club and secretary-treasurer for the local T.O.P’s Club.
