Obituary of Ruth Pinsonneault

Ruth Edna Pinsonneault (nee Schwab) of Gravelbourg, SK, passed away with family by her side on Sunday, March 10, 2019, at the age of 88 years. Ruth was born on the family homestead in the Meyronne district on June 15, 1930, to Arthur and Elizabeth (nee Donauer) Schwab. She grew up with nine siblings, three brothers and six sisters, and attended school in Meyronne. Ruth met the love of her life, Jean Baptiste Pinsonneault, better known as Johnny, and after a courtship they were married on January 30, 1952. Ruth and Johnny settled on the Pinsonneault homestead seven miles west of Gravelbourg and this is where they raised their family of four children, Jeanne, Claude, Yvette, and Lorraine. Ruth and Johnny were proud of the fruits of their labour. They built a beautiful farm together, with their son Claude by their side. Ruth spent countless hours taking care of the farmyard, feeding men in the field, growing humongous gardens, and taking care of her children. Ruth was proud to teach them the value of good honest hard work. Ruth enjoyed family vacations, including Hawaii to celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary and a road trip to Las Vegas and L.A. In later years, Ruth and Johnny would spend a few months each winter in Arizona with friends. In the early ‘80s, Johnny built Ruth’s dream home on the outskirts of town. It was a beautiful, warm, quiet home that held many occasions and Christmas’s, where Ruth would prepare huge feasts for her family. Ruth loved all of her family, and her grandchildren and great grandchildren were the loves of her life. When Johnny passed away on September 25, 2002, there was a huge void in Ruth’s life. She continued to live in their home for the next eight years before moving to the Villa in Gravelbourg. In October of 2016, Ruth transitioned to the Foyer d’Youville, joining friends who had moved there from the Villa and also making new friends. She very much enjoyed the activities at the Foyer, doing crafts, making nachos, going for walks, and of course playing bingo. It is beyond words how much Ruth will be missed by her family and she will be forever loved. Ruth was predeceased by her husband Jean Baptiste Pinsonneault (2002). Left to cherish her memory is her loving family, daughter Jeanne (Alain) Brisebois; son Claude Pinsonneault (Odette Tremblay); daughter Yvette (Adrien) Bolen; daughter Lorraine (Norman) Masse; 17 grandchildren and 35 great grandchildren. Funeral Mass was celebrated on Friday, March 15, 2019, 10:00 a.m., at Our Lady of the Assumption Co-Cathedral, Gravelbourg, SK, with Father Carlos Jimenez celebrant. Cross bearer was Jason Kleckner and candle bearers were Michel and Gaetan Pinsonneault. Readers were Justin Kleckner and Marc Brisebois. Responsorial psalm was read by Breana Kleckner. Prayers of the faithful were shared by Chantale Craig, Christal DeCap, Ginette Lavoie, Celyne Masse, Joëlle Spence, and Danielle Masse. Offertory gifts were presented by Lianne Sewell and Roxanne Allain. Eulogists and urn bearers were Jeanne Brisebois, Yvette Bolen, and Lorraine Masse. Interment took place at the Gravelbourg Roman Catholic Cemetery. Memorial donations in memory of Ruth to the Foyer d’Youville Foundation, Box 810, Gravelbourg, SK S0H 1X0, were greatly appreciated.
