Obituary of Terry Langelier

Thérèse "Terry” Marie Simone Langelier passed away at the Pasqua Hospital, Regina, SK, on May 2, 2019, with family at her side. Terry was a proud French Canadian, born on January 5, 1948, in Gravelbourg, SK. She was the sixth child of Jean and Simone (nee Marchessault) Langelier. One of Terry’s passions was singing, and she sang throughout her childhood and high school years. Music was the heart of the home and always a part of family gatherings. Terry was so excited when she, along with two of her sisters, took the train from Regina to Montreal to perform at EXPO ’67. After graduation, Terry moved to Regina and attended Marvel Beauty School. On November 16, 1970, she earned her Journeyman’s Status as a hairstylist. Terry loved being a stylist, a career that spanned a lifetime. Even after retiring she enjoyed going over to friends’ homes to give haircuts. She was the "go-to” hairstylist for her family. Many nieces and nephews had their first haircut done by Auntie Terry; this was something she was honoured and loved to do. She enjoyed taking part in the Terry Fox Run, walking, cross-stitching, crocheting blankets, reading, coffee row, was a dog lover, and an avid Saskatchewan Roughrider and curling fan. Terry loved to travel. Trips back and forth to Gravelbourg were always a joy. She especially loved visiting family and friends, and trips to the States with her good buddies. Terry’s faith was important to her and she was an active member of the CWL for over 40 years. Terry was eager to help in any way that she could at Holy Trinity Parish and loved to sing in the choir. Terry looked forward to gatherings and treasured time spent with her immediate and extended families, including Gerald and Charmaine LeBlanc’s family in Gravelbourg, and Marion Reles’s family in Regina. She was a light wherever she went, and easy to be around with her jokes and laughter. Terry was an inspiration; she was steadfast, genuinely caring, always ready to help out in any way, and a joy to be around. Terry’s love lives on forever in the hearts of all who knew her. Terry is survived by her loving family, sister Denise Fauchon; sister Gilly (Ervin) Jendrasheske; sister Yvette (Marc-René) Nogue; sister Jeanne (Denis) Poissant; brother Rick Langelier (Jackie Olsen); brother-in-law Maurice Cossette; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great-great nieces, great-great nephews, cousins and cherished friends. She was predeceased by her parents Jean and Simone (nee Marchessault) Langelier; infant brother; sister Céline Cossette; sister Louise (Pierre) Morin; brother Louis (Dorothy) Langelier; brother-in-law Claude Fauchon; niece Joanne Cossette; and nephew Rolly Langelier. Funeral Mass was celebrated on Wednesday, May 8, 2019, 3:00 p.m., at Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church, Regina, SK, with Father Ronald Andree celebrant. The eulogy was shared by nephew Marc Langelier and niece Natalie Poissant. Paschal candle lighting by great nieces Baylee, Isabella and Delphine. Readers were friend Gail Prentice and sister Jeanne Poissant. Music was shared by niece-in-law Holly Dreger and parishioners Nicole Funke and Maureen Runyon. Honorary Pallbearers were Terry’s nieces and nephews Yogi, Nicole, Don, Danny, Suzanne, Diane, Monique, Marcel, Michelle, Annette, Debbie, Larry, Laurie, Darren, Chantal, Melanie, Christine, Joel, Rich, Natalie, Jessica, Janelle and Marc. We are so grateful to family and friends for the many acts of kindness extended to Terry throughout her life and during her courageous battle with cancer.
