Obituary of Anne Strauch

Anne Strauch of Shamrock, SK passed away on Saturday, August 17, 2019, at the age of 90 years. Anne was born on June 16, 1929, at the Vanguard Hospital. She was one of five children born to Frank and Pearl (nee Rusnak) Kaliciak. Anne attended Normal School and became a teacher. She taught at Bolingbroke School, and in that area was a young man by the name of Alex Strauch. The rest was history. Anne and Alex were married on November 6, 1953, and they started life together on the Strauch homestead. They were blessed with two children, on September 18, 1954 Cheryl was born and on February 25, 1956 Glen was born. After her children arrived, Anne retired from full-time teaching to subbing at the Shamrock school. Anne loved the farm and had a huge garden, which many people in the community received some of the harvest from. She loved working her yard and everything in her garden flourished. Anne had a beautiful flower garden and many varieties of fruit trees. She also made sure to show her grandchildren the raspberry patch, where they ate many handfuls of them. Anne adored her grandchildren and gifted each of them a handmade afghan. She treasured the time spent with her grandchildren and later her great grandchildren. Anne’s family fondly called her an energizer bunny because she would keep on going and going. She enjoyed reading, playing solitaire, and crocheting. On August 28, 1993, Alex passed away and another chapter in Anne’s life began. She missed Alex dearly but continued her life, as she said, "One day at a time.” Anne continued to live at the farm until the age of 85, when she moved to the Villa in Gravelbourg. She missed the farm dearly but knew her limitations. Her quiet determination continued. Anne’s strength was tested again when her son Glen passed away this spring. Anne was a loving and patient wife, grandma, and great grandma. She will be missed every day. Until we meet again. Anne is survived by her loving family, daughter Cheryl (Pat) Russell, grandson Trevor (Amy) Russell, great grandson Ryder, granddaughter Kylea (Roland) Tremblay, great grandchildren Domonic, Rory; daughter-in-law Debbie Strauch, grandson Brent Strauch, great grandson Alex, grandson Kelly Strauch, great granddaughter Kayla; sister Rosemarie (Fen) Hedley; sister-in-law Norma Kaliciak. Predeceased by her husband Alex Strauch (1993); son Glen Strauch (2019); parents Frank and Pearl Kaliciak; brothers Tony Kaliciak, Joe Kaliciak; sister Mary (Ray) Koncohrada; father and mother-in-law Christian and Charlotte Strauch; step mother-in-law Elvina Strauch; brothers-in-law Jake Strauch, Albert (Kay) Strauch, Dave (Sylvia) Strauch, Adolph (Doreen) Strauch; sisters-in-law Mary (George) Harris, Clara (Jack) Drake; nephew Jim Strauch. Celebration of Life took place on Saturday, August 24, 2019, 2:00 p.m., at the Shamrock Community Hall. The eulogy was shared by Kelly Strauch. Urn bearer was Kaylea Tremblay.
