Obituary of Edna Alvina Smiles Knutson
Edna Knutson of Moose Jaw, SK and formerly Glentworth, SK passed away peacefully on the evening of February the 9th, at the age of 86. She was born to Russell and Annie Elford (nee. Grummett) in the Horse Creek area of SW Saskatchewan. Edna was the seventh of nine children: Chet, Cliff, Pansy, Edward, Eva, George, Edna, Ruby and Ada.
Edna grew up in the Horse Creek area of Saskatchewan. Edna married Arnold Knutson on June the 28th of 1944. After their wedding Edna and Arnold settled on their farm south of Glentworth; she supported her husband and their family as a homemaker. In later years Edna was involved with Home Care and later was involved on the board of directors. Edna was also secretary treasurer of the Glentworth Senior’s Club for several years. Edna enjoyed growing flowers, gardening, sewing and quilting. Edna was known to be exceptionally meticulous around her household, with her cooking, and was very proud of her home and farm.
In her life Edna’s family came first and yearly sister get-togethers were very special. Edna was also a long time member of the Church of Christ.
Edna is survived by her husband Arnold of 67 years; her 5 children: Alfred (Helen), Vernon (Colleen), Madeline (Ron Cutting), Russell (Glenda), and Carmen; 13 grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren; and her sister Ada. Predeceased by her daughter-in-law Victoria Knutson; brothers: Chet, Cliff, Edward and George; sisters: Pansy, Eva and Ruby.
Funeral Service was held on Wednesday February 15th at 1:30 p.m. at the Church of Christ in Gravelbourg, SK, with Pastor Darrell Buchanan officiating. Honorary pallbearers were "All those who shared in Edna’s life.” Active pallbearers were Edna’s grandsons: Kevin Knutson, Clayton Knutson, Adam Knutson, Lyndon Knutson, Andrew Knutson and Austin Knutson. Interment took place at the Waverley Cemetery, Glentworth, SK. Memorial tributes in memory of Edna to the Alzheimer Society of Saskatchewan, 301-2550 12th Ave., Regina, SK. S4P 3X1, were greatly appreciated.
