Obituary of Sharon Anne Filson

Sharon Anne Filson (nee Rockey) of Woodrow, SK, passed away on Tuesday, May 15, 2012, at the age of 61 years. Sharon was born on August 13, 1950 in Mankota, SK. She was the first of 10 children born to Art and Jessie Rockey. Sharon grew up in McCord and attended school there. At the age of 19 Sharon met Bill Filson and they were married in the McCord United Church on September 4, 1971. Sharon and Bill were blessed with three children, Sheldon, Shannon and Carl. They lived in Woodrow for a few years before moving to their farm in the early 80’s. Sharon had a very kind heart and she loved to visit. She was passionate about health care and took a Home Care course in Assiniboia. Sharon was always concerned about everyone’s well being, even above her own. Sharon was the planner of her family, keeping track of everything and everyone. She loved spending time with her family and took great joy in planning when and where they would get together. Sharon was a genuine, loving and affectionate person and will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Sharon is survived by her loving family, husband Bill of 41 years; son Sheldon (Jen), granddaughter Kaylee; daughter Shannon (Jeff); son Carl; siblings, Irene (Bob), Ruby, Grace, Gordon (Betty), Bev (Darrell); brothers-in-law Harvey (Linda), David (Linda), Benjamin (Sandy), Duane (Penny); sisters-in-law Gloria Rockey and Jeanette (Bud) Peter; and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews. Sharon is predeceased by her parents Art and Jessie (nee Burnard) Rockey; siblings John, Leonard, Linda and Ron; niece Whitney McDonald; nephew Gordon Rockey Junior; brother in law Clayton Peterson. Funeral Service was held on Saturday, May 19, 2012, at 2:00 p.m., from the Woodrow Gospel Chapel, Woodrow, SK. Officiant was Pastor Richard Hovey. The eulogy was shared by Darrell and Bev McDonald. Music by Ed Rigetti and Rhys Frostad. The urn bearers were Bill, Sheldon, Shannon and Carl. Honorary pallbearers were "Everyone who shared in Sharon’s life.” Interment took place at the Woodrow Cemetery. Memorial tributes in memory of Sharon the Canadian Diabetes Association of Saskatchewan, 917 Albert Street, Regina, SK S4R 2P6 were greatly appreciated.
