Obituary of Philipina Schergevitch

Philipina Schergevitch Philipina Anna Maria Schergevitch nee Heidt of Calgary, AB and formerly Mankota, SK, passed away on May 25, 2012, at the age of 89 years. Philipina was born on November 24, 1922, in Mankota, SK to Augustine and Elizabeth (nee Deringer) Heidt. She married Frank Schergevitch on May 23, 1944, and they were blessed with six children. Frank and Philipina spent their entire time together in the Mankota area; whether it was on the farm or in town they both worked very hard. Frank and Philipina were very involved in the community and in the church. In 2000, a year after Frank passed away, Philipina moved to Calgary. She made friends very easily and always gave more than she took. Rest in Peace Dear Sweet Mama. We love you dearly and we miss you. Have a game of cards or a dance with dad! The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Beverly Centre for the special care given to our mom. Philipina is survived by her loving family, daughter Elizabeth (Hugh) Daniels, granddaughter Melanie, great granddaughter Lisa; son David, grandchildren Christine, Nicholas, Rachel and their mother Sonja, great grandchildren Olivia, Jakob, David, William, Frank; son Butch, grandchildren Stephanie, Warren, great granddaughter Jessica; son Wayne; daughter Joanne (Theo) McCready, grandchildren Jeff, Erin, great grandchild Riley; son Glenn; brother Valentine (Laura) Heidt; sister-in-law Madeline Schergevitch. Predeceased by her parents August and Elizabeth (nee Deringer) Heidt; sisters Katie Bechal, Regina Schafer; brothers Jack and Frank. Funeral Mass was held on Tuesday, May 29, 2012, at 2:00 p.m. from St. Albert Roman Catholic Church, Mankota, SK, with Father Joy Montiague celebrant. The eulogy was shared by Joanne McCready. Music by Joan Stengler and the Mankota Community Choir. Active pallbearers were Rob Heidt, Bob Beler, Paulette Marten, Clem Heidt, Don Schafer and Tony Schmidt. Interment took place at the Mankota Municipal Cemetery, Mankota, SK. Memorial tributes in memory of Philipina to the Prairie View Health Centre Fund, Box 392, Mankota, SK S0H 2W0, were greatly appreciated.
