Obituary of Emilienne Maria Gregoire
Emilienne Maria Grégoire of Gravelbourg, SK, passed away, with family and friends by her side, on Wednesday, June 6, 2012, at the age of 97 years. Emilienne was born on December 8, 1914 in Woonsocket, Rhode Island, to Paul and Emma (nee Soucy) Piché. She moved to Canada with her family and they settled in the Willow Bunch area. Emilienne married Antonio Grégoire on October 29, 1935 and together they ran a bakery in Gravelbourg for a number of years. Emilienne’s specialty was decorating cakes. When they sold the bakery she began work as a nurse’s aid at the Foyer d’Youville, and retired in the early eighties. Emilienne had many talents and interests, including gardening, baking, reading, walking, knitting and sewing. Religion was an important part of her life and Emilienne always had her rosary close at hand.
Emilienne is survived by her loving family, brother Paul Piché of Willow Bunch; brother Gérard Piché of Gravelbourg. Predeceased by her husband Antonio Grégoire; parents Paul and Emma (nee Soucy) Piché; brothers Dollard (Simone) Piché and Julien (Patricia) Piché; sister Florence Piché; sisters-in-law Viola Piché and Lina Piché.
Funeral Mass was celebrated on Saturday, June 16, 2012, at 2:00 p.m., from Our Lady of the Assumption Co-Cathedral, Gravelbourg, SK, with Father Joseph Strohhofer celebrant. The cross bearer was Marielle Dionne. Altar Servers were Claude Dionne and Robert Piché. Readings were shared by Pat Piché and Marielle Dionne. Offertory gifts were presented by Albert Piché and Marcel Piché. Our Lady of the Assumption Choir was accompanied by organist Leona Bourgeois. Honor guard was formed by the Catholic Women’s League. Urn bearer was Lionel Benoit. The eulogy was shared by Gayle LaRochelle. Interment took place at the Gravelbourg Roman Catholic Cemetery. Memorial tributes in memory of Emilienne to St. Joseph Hospital / Foyer d’Youville Foundation, Box 810, Gravelbourg, SK S0H 1X0, were greatly appreciated.
