Obituary of Jeannette Marie BEAUREGARD
Jeannette Marie Beauregard (nee Chretien) of Assiniboia, SK, passed away peacefully with family by her side on Wednesday, July 11, 2012, at the age of 98 years. Jeannette was born on October 12, 1913 at St. Cleophas de Brandon, Quebec, the eighth of ten children born to Joseph and Edesse Chretien. She came west with her family in 1927 and settled in the Lisieux, SK area. Jeannette completed grade ten as a boarder at the Willow Bunch convent. She married Louis Beauregard on March 4, 1935 and made their home on a farm in the Scout Lake area, where they raised 5 children. There, Jeannette worked very hard maintaining the household, doing outside chores, and growing a large and bountiful vegetable garden. Jeannette and Louis retired from the farm to Assiniboia in 1969 and they lived on 6th Avenue East for 19 years. Their house was frequently filled with visiting children and their families. In 1988 they moved to the Pioneer Village, where Jeannette resided until the age of 95 years. She then moved to Long Term Care at the Assiniboia Union Hospital. Jeannette did not like to travel and was a home body, preferring to spend time with her local family and friends. She loved to play cards, crochet and knit, and over the years perfected the art of ear piercing. Jeannette also loved sports and was an avid Montreal Canadian fan, she also enjoyed watching boxing. Jeannette had a sharp mind and an astounding memory that she retained throughout her entire life. Her family members would go to her for all sorts of information as she remembered dates with amazing clarity. She made her family feel treasured and will be dearly held in their thoughts, memories and hearts. Jeannette is predeceased by her parents; all her brothers and sisters; husband Louis Beauregard (1998); son-in-law Keith McMillan (2006); great grandson Matthew Blain (2005). She is survived by her loving family, son Maurice (Valentine); daughter Juliette McMillan; daughter Denise (Jerry) Zubick; son Gerard (Donna); daughter Johanne (Greg) Silcox; 15 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, 1 great great granddaughter; numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral Mass was held on Friday, July 13, 2012, at 11:00 a.m., from St. George Roman Catholic Church, Assiniboia, SK, with Father Joy Montiague celebrant. The eulogy was shared by granddaughter Melissa Gross. The St. George Roman Catholic Church Choir was accompanied by organist Gail Delorme. Honorary pallbearers were all who shared in Jeannette’s life. Active pallbearers were Jeannette’s Grandchildren. Interment took place at Mount Hope Cemetery, Assiniboia, SK. Memorial tributes in memory of Jeannette to the Assiniboia Union Hospital Integrated Facility, Box 1120, Assiniboia, SK S0H 0B0, were greatly appreciated.
