Obituary of Hazel Marie NYBO

Hazel Marie Nybo of Hodgeville, SK, passed away on Friday, July 13, 2012, at the age of 83 years. She was the eighth child born to Lena (nee Streit) and Charles Lincoln on March 26, 1929, at the Lincoln Ranch near Hodgeville, SK. Hazel attended Walsh Valley, Dendron and Hodgeville schools. She married Basil Nybo on December 13, 1947 and during their first three years of marriage lived in Swift Current, SK. Hazel and Basil then moved to the family farm in the Hallonquist district and lived in a stone house. In 1962 they moved a house onto the farm, and there, Hazel and Basil raised their family and lived until January of 2012 when Hazel moved into the Heritage Manor in Herbert, SK. Hazel was active on the farm, hauling grain, raising chickens, gardening, canning and freezing produce. She also sold Avon part time. Hazel loved to curl, sewing, and flowers; her favorites were gladiolas. She enjoyed camping with her family and traveling on many bus trips and a few plane trips. Hazel and Basil also spent many hours traveling in their covered wagon with a team of horses. She was a member of the Hallonquist Ladies Aid and the Hallonquist Lutheran Church, where she sang in the choir. Hazel treasured her family and welcomed each new baby with great joy. Hazel was a loving, caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to many. She had a great sense of humor and wit, and will be greatly missed by all her family and friends. We would like to greatly thank Dr. Kassett for the wonderful care you have provided Mom throughout the years. We would also like to thank the staff of Herbert Manor and the Herbert Hospital for their compassion and care Mom received while in residence. Hazel is survived by her husband of 65 years Basil; son Wayne (Janice), grandchildren Corey (Keri), Jamie (Hui Ting), Kyle, Mitchell, great grandchildren Jayselyn, Keira and Marius Nybo; daughter Linda (Harold) Gates, grandchildren Troy (Jenn), Amber (Jamie) Denning, great grandchildren Brooke, Savannah and Riley Gates, Casey and Raylee Denning; son Lance (Dianne), grandchildren Brittany, Fraser, Jenna (Mike Piche), Jeffrey, Curtis; daughter Melody (Les) Zeller, grandchildren Marnie, Taylor. Predeceased by parents Charles and Lena (nee Streit) Lincoln; brothers Donald (1988), Lloyd (2007), Leonard (1934); sisters Vera Coward (1977), Irene Bochek (2003), Alma Horne (2010), Gladys Senft (1988), Margaret Sales (1989); grandsons Logan Zeller, Edward Nybo. Funeral Service was held on Monday, July 16, 2012, at 2:00 p.m., from the Hodgeville Community Centre, Hodgeville, SK, with Pastor Jay Lutz officiant. The eulogy was shared by Mitchell Nybo. Power point presentation by Jenna Nybo and Brittany Nybo. Ushers were Bob Horne and Randy Lincoln. Honorary pallbearers were granddaughters Amber Denning, Brittany Nybo, Jenna Nybo, Marnie Zeller, Taylor Zeller. Active pallbearers were grandsons Corey Nybo, Jamie Nybo, Troy Gates, Kyle Nybo, Mitchell Nybo, Fraser Nybo, Jeffrey Nybo, Curtis Nybo. Interment took place at Spring Valley Cemetery, Hallonquist, SK. Memorial tributes in memory of Hazel to the Herbert Heritage Manor, Box 10, Herbert, SK S0H 2A0, were greatly appreciated.
