Obituary of Bob JANSEN

Robert Allan John Jansen of Coderre, SK, passed away on Wednesday, September 25, 2013, at the age of 62 years. Bob was born on October 30, 1950, in Beechy, SK, to John and Goldie Jansen and was the third of eight siblings. Bob was raised on a mixed cattle and grain farm, which sparked his interest in 4H, cattle, horses and rodeos. In the fall of 1973, at a rodeo in Beechy, Bob met his future wife, Christine Deobald. After harvest that year Bob moved to Saskatoon where Christine was in nursing training and he took a job building furniture. They were married on July 27, 1974, and a year later moved to Bateman, later making their home in the Shamrock district. Three years after they were married Bob and Christine started a family and were blessed with four boys, Robert, Clint, Joseph and Cody. Bob did everything with his boys, taking the time to go to sports, ball games, fishing, hunting, rodeos, and of course hockey. Bob was a member of the Shamrock Lions Club and supported all kind of special events. CNIB became a big part of Bob life and for 11 years he really enjoyed organizing auctions and fundraising bingos to support the blind. Bobs interests included trail rides and hunting with friends and his sons. The Wildlife Club played a big part in Bob’s life, and he enjoyed competing for the biggest buck or moose. Bob was a jack of all trades. He enjoyed being an organic farmer and working with his cattle, cleaned grain at Coderre, was a salesman for RH Agro and E Bourassa for 6 years, drove busses to hockey games and even drove a charter bus to California. He spent 4 winters up north driving for Sanjel and also loved trucking gravel for Boire’s. Bob worked at the Wheat Pool Elevator at Kelstern as an agent for 8 years, sold Co-op Hail Insurance for 28 years and adjusted hail claims for 4 years. Bob especially loved helping his neighbours on roping and branding days and was always willing to lend a hand. Bob was a loving husband, father, grandfather and a true friend, and he will be dearly missed. Bob is survived by his loving family, wife of 40 years Christine (nee Deobald); son Robert (Debbie), grandchildren Cole, Rebekah, Nathan; son Clint (Krystal), grandchildren Josie, Austin, Hunter; son Joe (Célèste); son Cody (Maria); siblings Judy (Jim), Walt (Joanne), Tom (Deb), Joyce (Bill), Marj (Murray), Lee, Howie (Michelle), and numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents John and Goldie; brothers-in-law Fred, Clarence. Funeral Service was held on Monday, September 30, 2013, at 1:00 p.m., at the Kelstern Community Church, Kelstern, SK, with Reverend Dion Grimm officiant. Readers were Terry Ostrander and Helmut Ohlmann. Special poem "It’s Not the End of the Trail” was read by Célèste Michaud. The eulogy was shared by Ray Rasmussen. Special grandchildren tribute by Rebekah Thomas. Honorary pallbearers were Ray Rasmussen, Rick Drake, Kenny Knudsen, John Knudsen, Dave Wilson and Gordon Rolfe. Active pallbearers were Eric Rasmussen, Richard Carr, Rodney Marchessault, Adrian Boire, Steve Halliwell and Gilles Boire. Interment took place at the Shamrock Cemetery.
