Obituary of Walter Theodore WOIT

Walter Woit of Assiniboia, SK, and formerly Mossbank, SK passed away on Tuesday, November 27, 2012, at the age of 92, with family by his side. Walter was born on the family farm near Old Wives Lake on November 1, 1920, to Albert and Augusta (nee Steink) Woit. Walter served in the Army in World War II and received his 50 year Royal Canadian Legion Lifetime Membership in the summer of 2012. Walter was very proud to serve his country. Walter married Erna Dreger on June 27, 1952 at the Woit family farm. They were blessed with two sons, Gary and Robert. Walter loved the farm and took pride in his cattle. Walter enjoyed cards, crib, dancing, had a great memory and was a wonderful storyteller. Walter and Erna went on a cruise when they traveled to Florida, vacationed in Hawaii and enjoyed bus trip to California. In 2000 they purchased a home and retired to Mossbank. In 2011, due to failing health, they moved to the Prairie Villa. Walter is survived by his loving wife Erna (nee Dreger) Woit; son Gary Woit; sisters-in-law Doris Woit, May Dreger, Margaret (Ed) Makus, Katy Sazinski, Betty McKchenie, Nel (Ron) Norgen; Dolores Stecher; and numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his son Robert Woit (1964); parents Albert and Augusta (nee Steink) Woit; brother Wilfred Woit; sisters Bertha (Joe) Gamble, Elsie (Harvey) Weaver; brothers-in-law Herb Dreger, Rudy Dreger, Bill Sazinski, Jerry McKchenie, Bob Setcher; sisters-in-law Wally Kiel, Isabel (Gene) Johnson. Funeral Service will be held at a later date.
