Obituary of Father Richard Joseph LARIVIERE

Father Richard Larivière of Gravelbourg, SK, passed away on Friday, November 30, 2012, at the age of 91 years. Richard was the second child of Salem and Louisa Larivière. He was born on September 24, 1921 in Gravelbourg, SK. Richard was ordained on July 25, 1949. He was the parish priest in Meyronne, Ponteix, Coderre and Courval, and spent many years as the administrator of the Gravelbourg diocese. Father Richard devoted his life to helping and loving others. He was instrumental in establishing Camp Lemieux and led the camp from 1953-1967. God has you in His arms, we have you in our hearts. Left to cherish Father Richard’s memory is his sister Juliette Beauchamp; sister-in-law Aurore Larivière; nephews and nieces Alain and Christian Clermont, Diane (Roland) Boire, Lise (Dale) Berger, Paul Beauchamp and Roland Larivière. Predeceased by his parents Salem and Louisa (nee Veaudry) Larivière; siblings Lucille, Simone, Wilfrid, Alice, Maurice and Georgette. Prayer Vigil was held on Thursday, December 6, 2012, at 7:30 p.m. and Mass of the Christian Burial was celebrated on Friday, December 7, 2012, at 11:00 a.m., both from Our Lady of the Assumption Co-Cathedral, Gravelbourg, SK. Main celebrant was the Very Reverend Father Lorne Crozan v.g. and co-celebrants were Reverend Father Joseph Strohhofer, Reverend Father Ron Andree and priests from the Archdiocese of Regina. Cross bearer was Christian Clermont. The eulogy was shared by Alain Clermont. Cantors Andre Moquin and Henri Lepage were accompanied by organist Leona Bourgeois. Active pallbearers were Leon Cornet, Bob Corkery, Chill Wong and Bob Lefebvre. Honour guard was formed by the Knights of Columbus. Interment took place at the Gravelbourg Roman Catholic Cemetery. Memorial donations in memory of Father to Camp Lemieux, 600 Circle Dr., Swift Current, SK S9H 4E1.
