Obituary of Velma Beryl SHENNER

It is with sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Velma Shenner on Friday, December 7, 2012, at the age of 72 years. Velma was born in Coronach, SK, on August 1, 1940, to Roy and Edna (nee Holbrook) Morrison. She lived on the family farm near Big Beaver for a short time, and later the family relocated to Bengough, where Velma took her schooling. Velma married Clifford Shenner on August 8, 1959, and together they raised three children, Marlon, Laddie and Lindsey. Velma was proud of her children and dearly loved her grandchildren. Once the kids were grown, Velma took up golf and enjoyed many rounds with her family and friends. Summers were spent at Thomson Lake and winters were spent in many curling rinks cheering on her favorite teams. Velma had a passion for antiques and took great pleasure working many auctions in southern Saskatchewan. Velma was a wonderful storyteller, thoughtful, caring person and enjoyed visiting with her friends and family. Velma was predeceased by her son Marlon (2003); parents Roy and Edna (nee Holbrook) Morrison; brother-in-law Eldor and sister-in-law Lois. She is survived by her husband of 53 years Cliff; daughter-in-law Shelley (Keith); daughters Laddie (Lorne), Lindsey (Richard); grandchildren Kendel (Bond), Jacob (Alysha), Marshall, Joel, Landon (Ashley), Colby, Abby, Tyrel and great grandson Dayton; sister Verna; numerous relations and many friends. Funeral Mass was held on Tuesday, December 11, 2012, at 11:00 a.m., at St. George Roman Catholic Church, Assiniboia, SK, with Father Joy Montiague celebrant. The Paschal Candle was lit by Colby Carter. Readers were Dwight Morrison and Daryl Shenner. Offertory gifts were presented by Phil and Judy Shenner. The eulogy was shared by Betty Haugen and Nadine Schmaltz. Urn bearers were Kendel Jewell, Jacob Shenner, Marshall Shenner, Joel Hyvonen, Landon Hyvonen, Colby Carter, Abby Carter and Tyrel Carter. Private family interment took place at Big Beaver Cemetery.
