Obituary of Rosalie POPESCUL
Rosalie Popescul of Assiniboia, SK, passed away on Sunday, December 23, 2012, at the age of 80 years. Rosalie was born on June 18, 1932, to Nicholas and Elizabeth Coroluick, at their home in Wood Mountain. There, she attended school until her marriage to Peter Popescul in 1948. They were blessed with two children, Bonnie in 1951 and Wes in 1955. Rosalie and Peter lived on a farm east of Scout Lake, and in 1960 moved to a farm six miles east of Wood Mountain. They retired to Assiniboia in the mid-1970s, where Rosalie kept busy working alongside her sisters at Ross-Payant Nursing Home. Rosalie remained at her home in Assiniboia until moving to the East Side Court. She then moved to the Assiniboia Long Term Care Home and in 2012 to the Foyer d’Youville in Gravelbourg. Rosalie enjoyed music, crocheting, and sewing everything and anything that she could. She also loved to garden and look after her yard on the farm, and later in town. Rosalie was a strong willed and intelligent woman. She passed a lot of wisdom down to her children and grandchildren. She had a wonderful sense of humour and she loved to laugh. Rosalie was an amazing cook and her cream chicken was legendary. She loved life, she loved her family and friends, and she loved God. No matter what situation Rosalie was presented with, no matter how challenging, she was able to overcome it. Rosalie is survived by her daughter Bonnie (Ross) Gyman; son Wes (Karen) Popescul; grandchildren Cory, Christy, Sheri, Cheryl, Brandon and Tyson; great grandchildren Logan, Tucker, Trisha, Jasmine, Connor and Brooklyn; sister Helen Hysuick; four sisters-in-law and three brothers-in-law; numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her husband Peter Popescul, parents Nicholas and Elizabeth (nee Petrescu) Coroluick; sisters Victoria (William) Hysuick and Virg (Alex) Zahariuk; brothers Gus Coroluick and Mike (Doris) Coroluick; brother-in-law Lee Hysuick. Prayers were held on Thursday, December 27, 2012, at 7:00 p.m., and Funeral Mass on Friday, December 28, 2012, at 10:00 a.m., both from Piche-Hawkins-Grondin Funeral Chapel, Assiniboia, SK. Officiant was Pastor Marlin Juell. Lighting of the Candle by Bonnie Gyman and Wes Popescul. The eulogy was shared by Christy Gyman. Reader was Nick Coroluick. Special music was played by Gina Stewart. Honorary pallbearers were "All those who shared in Rosalie’s life.” Active pallbearers were Ross Gyman, Cory Gyman, Logan Magnuson, Brandon Welder, Iver Hysuick and Randy Zarembra. Interment took place at Mount Hope Cemetery, Assiniboia, SK. Memorial donations in memory of Rosalie to the Foyer d’Youville Foundation, Box 810, Gravelbourg, SK S0H 1X0, were greatly appreciated.
