Obituary of Roberta May FRAZER

Roberta May Frazer of Fir Mountain, SK, passed away on Tuesday, February 19, 2013, at the age of 86 years. Birdie was born at her grandparents farm north of Fir Mountain on March 15, 1926; she was the first of eight children born to Armstead and Pearl (nee Guthrie) Harden. She was raised on the family farm northwest of Killdeer and attended Lonesome Butte and Macworth Schools. Birdie worked on her Uncle Claude Harden's threshing crew, at a potato factory in Moses Lake, WA and at a turkey factory. Birdie met Ken Frazer in the fall of 1946 and they were married on October 25, 1947, in Glasgow, MT. They were blessed with one daughter, Louise Pearl, born on November 7, 1948, in Mankota, SK. Birdie and Ken lived on the NE 1-6-3, running a few cattle and taking every job that was available, including fencing, riding and harvesting. In 1949, Birdie and Ken traded their cows for land, and in 1956 bought four quarters along Six Mile Creek near Fir Mountain, which would be known as Six Mile Red Angus Ranch. All of the buildings from their previous farm were moved, and Birdie was able to cook dinner in the house, while it was still on skids, on the truck that was moving it. In 1962, a ranch house was built and they continued to add new barns and pens as their cattle operation grew. In 1985, a house was built just south of their original ranch home. Birdie enjoyed playing ball in the summertime, horseback riding, and hunting coyotes with hounds. She loved horses and always owned and rode a pony from the same lineage as the first Shetland/Welsh pinto that she began riding on at the age of four. Birdie took pride in the accomplishments of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and loved spending time with them all. She will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by her loving family and friends. Birdie is survived by her grandson Clayton (Corinne) Gibson, great grandchildren Callie, Cade and Coy; granddaughter Sandi (Michael) Gray, great grandchildren Gage, Kylah and Luke; siblings Archie (Barb) Harden, Laura (Johnny) Waronek, Lillian (Clemence) Loy, Adeline (Leo) Dumelie, David (Linda) Harden, Evelyn (Tony) Okraincee. Predeceased by her husband Ken Frazer (2009); daughter Louise Gibson (1999); parents Armstead and Pearl (nee Guthrie) Harden; brother Joe Harden; father and mother-in-law James and Annie Frazer. Funeral Service was held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 23, 2013, at the Fir Mountain Hall, Fir Mountain, SK, with Pastor Lionel Moffat officiant. A tribute to Birdie was shared by Callie Gibson and Cade Gibson. Musicians were Clint Mitchell, Dawn Mitchell, Mark Elford and Karin Elford. Honorary pallbearers were "All those who shared in Birdie's life, especially her nieces and nephews." Active pallbearers were Troy Waronek, Clinton Cozak, Lorrie Waronek, Pearl Matters, Gary Williams and Rodney Hutton. Interment took place at the Killdeer Cemetery. Memorial donations in memory of Birdie to the Wood Mountain Regional Park Swimming Pool Fund, Box 14, Wood Mountain, SK S0H 4L0, were greatly appreciated.
