Obituary of Isabel COOPER

Isabel Cooper of Gravelbourg, SK, passed away, with family by her side, on Wednesday, February 20, 2013, at the age of 88 years. Isabel was born on October 29, 1924 in the Bateman district, the fourth child of Fred and Elizabeth (nee Gattinger) Neubeker. Growing up Isabel helped on the family farm, working in the fields, garden and house. She met Fred Cooper on a blind date, and they were married in October, 1950. The first winter they rented a farmhouse and in the spring they moved a house onto the Cooper homestead. Isabel and Fred shipped cream by rail to Moose Jaw and sold eggs to the local hatchery and clients in town. Isabel loved beatifying the yard with here lovely flower garden, and her magnificent flowers were her pride and joy. In the spring of 1952, their first son Randy was born. In 1954, their second son Richard arrived and in 1958, Timothy completed the family. In the fall of 1960, a new house was built to accommodate the growing family. Isabel and Fred moved into Gravelbourg in 1988, where they embarked on a new chapter in their lives, filled with friends, family and a lot of card playing. Isabel was a very patient person, a necessary attribute for raising boys and tending to flowers. She also had a steadfast, simple faith in God and knew that with prayers and time, everything would work out to how it was meant to be. Isabel had a love of beautiful and bright things, especially her flowers. The flower gardens on the farm and in town were Isabel's passion and gave her peace and joy. Family was very dear to Isabel; she was very proud of her sons accomplishments and encouraged all of their endeavours. Grandchildren and great grandchildren were Isabel's jewels and she treasured and loved each of them. Isabel went to every dance recital, special school function, sporting events and celebrated every occasion she could with them. Isabel will be fondly remembered by her family and friends for her kindness, generosity, laughter and caring ways, and will always be a jewel in their memories. Isabel is survived by her loving family, son Randy (Sheryl); son Richard; son Timothy (Wendy); seven grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren; brothers Johnny, Wilbert, Fred; sisters Minnie, Mary and Joan. Predeceased by her husband Frederick Cooper (2006); parents Fred and Elizabeth (nee Gattinger) Neubeker; brothers Henry, Ernest, Elmer; sister Kay.
