Obituary of Bernadette "Bernie" Wilson

Bernadette Marie-Jean Wilson passed away at the Ross Payant Nursing Home in Assiniboia, SK, on January 21, 2016, at 6:00 p.m., with her family by her side, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Bernie was born on November 7, 1952, in Assiniboia, to Maurice (2004) and Yvette Delorme. Bernie lived in Assiniboia until she was 15, and then she moved to Regina. While there she worked at a nursing home, and later ran a daycare at her home. Bernie was blessed with three children, Jody, Deanna, and Destiny, who she loved dearly. When Bernie was 37 she moved back to Assiniboia. Bernie met John Wilson when she began working as his housekeeper. They fell in love and were married on February 18, 1995. Bernie was an animal lover, and had many dear pets. She cherished the time spent with her family and friends. Bernie will be dearly missed, and memories of her will be treasured always. Bernie is survived by her loving family, husband John Wilson; son Jody Reid; daughter Deanna (Hank) Neumiller, grandchildren Brett, Wade, Nick, Avery; daughter Destiny (Dustin) Henderson, grandchildren Brooke, Lynden; step-daughter April (Tim) Heeg, grandchildren Allie, Greg; step-daughter Hillary (Dale) Steckler, grandchildren Jamie, Kenton, Meagan, Ryan, great grandchildren Everly, Lucas; step-daughter Suzanne Wilson (Travis Maves), grandchildren Britany, John; mother Yvette (nee Sylvestre) Delorme; brothers Richard Delorme, Ronald (Jeanine) Delorme, Michael (Cory) Delorme, Raymond (Nancy) Delorme; and numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her father Maurice Delorme (May 17, 2004). Funeral Service was held on Thursday, January 28, 2016, at 2:00 p.m., at St. George Roman Catholic Church, Assiniboia. Celebrant was Father Joy Montiague. The eulogy and special memories were shared by Deanna and Hank Neumiller, and Destiny and Dustin Henderson. Charlotte Henderson – Wilson sang "Amazing Grace.” Pallbearers were Richard Delorme, Ronald Delorme, Michael Delorme, Raymond Delorme, Hank Neumiller, and Dustin Henderson. Private Family Interment took place at Mount Hope Cemetery, Assiniboia. Memorial donations in memory of Bernie to the Canadian Cancer Society, 61B Ross St. W., Moose Jaw, SK S6H 2M2 or the Mental Health Association of Saskatchewan, 2702 12th Ave., Regina, SK S4T 1J2, were greatly appreciated.
