Obituary of Jean Berg

Jean Levon Berg passed away peacefully on March 8th, 2020 in the presence of her loving family, at the Foyer d’Youville, Gravelbourg, SK, at the age of 91 years. She was born on June 28, 1928 in Moose Jaw, SK and raised on the farm near Bateman, SK by her parents James and Mable Costley. Jean met her lifelong love, Elmer at a New Year’s Eve dance in 1950 and after a short whirlwind romance, they were married on March 26th, 1951. Jean loved her animals, flowers, garden and she enjoyed painting, sewing and crocheting.

 

Jean is survived by her loving family, son Garnet (Fe) Berg, son Kelvin (Verna) Berg, daughter Janice (Louis) Michaud, daughter Sherry (Ralph) MacPhail, 13 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, sisters-in-law Irene (Pete) Martens, Margaret (Don) Norum, brother-in-law Rienharet (Teresa) Berg, numerous nieces, nephews and their families.

 

Jean was predeceased by her husband Elmer Berg (2014), parents James and Mabel (nee Allen) Costley, brothers Jimmy, Deb, Norman, Lorne, sister Agnes, parents-in-law John and Ruth Berg (nee Coward), sisters-in-law Leona Costley, Ethel Costley, Mildred Costley, Janet Berg,  brothers-in-law Vernon Berg, Ken Bradley, grandson Trevor MacPhail.

 

United Church Funeral Service will be held Friday, March 13, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. at the Church of Christ, Gravelbourg, Saskatchewan. Interment will take place at the Bateman and Community Cemetery, Bateman, SK.
