Funeral Mass

A private Family Funeral Mass will be held.

In Memory Of

Laurent Normand Joseph Desrosiers

August 12, 1929 – June 5, 2020

It is with great sadness the family of Laurent Desrosiers announce his passing on Friday, June 5th, 2020. Laurent is survived by his wife Annette Labelle, daughter Natalie (Geoff), son Will, brothers Claude (Adèle), Wilfrid (Pat), stepsons Denis(Kathy) and André(Katherine). Laurent loved family above all else and his extended family, though numerous, was no exception. He will be missed by them all, but especially his grandchildren, for whom he greatly adored; Reid, Alice, Roux, and Emmi. Laurent is predeceased by his first wife, Aurore Chabot, and his siblings; Théodore (Verva), Roland (Mary), Rauol (Doreen), Elphege (Rose), Phillipe (Bernice), Jacqueline (Walter) and Raymonde (Art). Laurent was the sixth of ten children born to Willy and Eugénie Desrosiers, of Chicopee, Mass. As an infant, they moved to a farm in the Biggar, SK area. He met his first wife, whom he married in 1974. Aurore succumbed to ALS in 2004. In October 2006, Laurent married Annette, with whom he lovingly shared the rest of his days. The pair retired to Ponteix, SK where Laurent was involved in many local organizations. His passions were many and included sports of all kinds, beekeeping, music-as well as a hidden aptitude for painting. Above all, however, he was a philatelist-his stamp collection and knowledge formed the basis of numerous articles in local and national papers. The family would like to thank Dr. Pillay and the nursing staff of St. Joseph’s for their compassionate care. A Funeral Mass will be held in Biggar but limited due to COVID. A larger, more inclusive mass celebration will be held in Ponteix when restrictions ease. In lieu of flowers, Laurent has requested donations be made in his name to the ALS or Cancer Societies of Canada.
