Obituary of William McKenzie
William "Bill” McKenzie of Mossbank, SK passed away on his 90th birthday, October 31, 2013, at the Regina General Hospital. Bill was born on Halloween in 1923 at Pense, SK to Christina and Berton McKenzie. Bill was raised, and raised his family, on the homestead farm at Mossbank. Bill enlisted in the RCAF and received his aero-engineer mechanic certification. He trained in Edmonton, Windsor, ON, Detroit and Saskatoon. It was in Saskatoon that he met the love of his life, Dorothy Howlett. They were married in Saskatoon on January 5, 1946 and were blessed with three children, Wesley, David and Betty. Bill believed in making all things better. He never stopped promoting Mossbank as the best place to live. Bill drove school bus, did tinsmithing, served on the Wheat Pool Committee for 23 years, the hospital board for 23 years, the Co-op Board for 21 years, was a town councillor for 15 years and was most proud of being Mossbank’s mayor for 9 years. Bill was a member of the Legion and was a volunteer at the Mossbank Museum. Bill was a generous and hardworking man. Family came first and he instilled those values in his children. Bill was predeceased by his parents, brother Gordon and son Wesley. He is survived by his wife of 67 years Dorothy; son David (Grace), granddaughter Nadine, great grandchildren Daylene, Paige and Hayden; daughter Betty (Myron), grandchildren Dustin (Jen) and Katie.
