Obituary of Doreen Smith
Doreen Ella (nee Bushell) Smith passed away peacefully on Jan. 11, 2021, with family by her side. Doreen was born in Moose Jaw, SK on December 23, 1922. She attended Orinoco School until Grade 10 and then took her High School years in Limerick, SK. Upon graduating, Doreen took a Secretarial Course in Moose Jaw. A job brought her back to Limerick to Wilson Brothers office. In June of 1946, she married Tom Smith and moved to the Smith Farm one mile south of Limerick. This is where they raised their family of 4 boys and 2 girls. She was active in the community with the Rebekah Lodge and the Trinity United Church in Limerick. Her voice could be heard in the choir for many years. In 2014, Doreen moved to Prairie Villa in Assiniboia. In 2019, she fell and broke her hip, which forced her to move to long-term care at Grasslands Health Centre in Rockglen, SK. Leaving to mourn a Mom, a Grandma, and a Great Grandma are: son Ron (Barb) Smith and their children, Sherri (Evan) Sand, Lee and Weston; Mellissa (Adam) Dalshaug, Kinsley and Grayson; Kyle; daughter Marilyn (Bill) Sandor and their children Kent (Dayna), Warren (Savannah); son Elwin (Anne) Smith and their daughter Catriona; son Wayne Smith (Ann); son Leslie (Ethel) Smith and their children Roxanne and Thomas; daughter Judy Smith.
Doreen was predeceased by her loving husband, Tom (July 22, 1980), her parents, Doris and George Bushell, brother Cyril (Edna) Bushell, brothers-in-law Joe Smith, Charles Smith and Jim (Jean) Smith.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions a private Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, Jan. 16, 2021, 1:30 p.m., at the Trinity United Church in Limerick, SK.
