Obituary of Steve SEMESOCK

On November 9, 2013, Steve Sam Semesock, beloved husband of the late Carmen Semesock, passed away peacefully at the age of 85. The second oldest of six siblings Fred, Anne, Nick, Mary, Jenny, and Phyllis, Steve was born on the farm in NE 9-11-8 W3rd SK, December 1, 1927, growing up in the Glen Bain district and settling on the family farm 2 miles north of Glen Bain. Early in life Steve met the love of his life Carmen Lalonde of St. Victor who was teaching at Arnold school. They were soul mates marrying July 16, 1953, raising six children Paul, Adele, Connie, Margaret, Carol, and Jim. Steve dedicated his life to family and farming. He was able to provide wisdom without saying a word. His gentle manner influenced the lives of everyone who knew Steve. Steve was a successful farmer for 60 years working many days from sunup to sundown. A true farmer to the heart, money was never his focus of farming. After a long day on the tractor Steve would come home for supper and help Carmen in the garden and would listen to each child's day. Steve lived his faith with a genuine interest and concern for everyone he touched in his life. Church was important to Steve and Carmen and generally was never missed. Steve always had more concern for others, family and friends, than for himself. No matter how you tried to ask Steve about himself the conversation always turned around to yourself, leaving you with a feeling of contentment and peace. Steve loved to prepare for friends and family. His cabbage rolls were always made for a special occasion or visit. Jam Jam cookies at Christmas and homemade horseradish for Easter, made at the farm, was an event the young and old cherished. All 6 children, 15 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren will remember the great food and carry on the Semesock tradition that meant so much to everyone. Steve was predeceased by his beloved wife Carmen, parents John and Katherine, brother Fred, and sisters Anne and Mary. Steve is survived by his children Paul and Sylvia, Adele and Don, Connie and Mervin, Margaret, Carol and Randy, Jim and Coralyn, his brother Nick, sisters Jenny and Phyllis, along with 15 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Prayers were held on Wednesday, November 13, 2013, at 7:30 p.m. at Piche-Hawkins-Grondin Funeral Chapel, Gravelbourg, SK. Funeral Mass was held on Thursday, November 14, 2013, at 11:00 a.m., at St. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church, Glen Bain, SK, with Father Andrei Kachur celebrant. The eulogy was shared by Adele, Connie, Margaret and Carol. Reader was Stephanie. Honorary pallbearers were Aimee, Megan, Julie, Andrea, Lea, Stephanie, Brianna, Jeanette and Jennifer.
