Obituary of Iver HYSUICK

Iver Lenard Hysuick of Wood Mountain, SK passed away on Tuesday, November 12, 2013, at the age of 71 years. Iver was born in the Waverly District on May 8, 1942 to Lee and Helen Hysuick, the second of four children. He attended Wood Mountain School, and while growing up helped on the family farm. Iver took a welding course in Winnipeg and then worked in Regina as a welder. On July 2, 1966 Iver married Joan McGonigal, and they had three daughters, Paula, Tashia and Tanis. They lived in Regina for awhile before moving to Wood Mountain to farm. Iver was a grain farmer, raised buffalo, black Angus cattle, horses, and also drove school bus. Iver was director of the Wood Mountain Hall Board, Wood Mountain Regional Park and curling club member. He was also a 4-H welding leader and volunteer firefighter. He was an avid curler, played ball and spent many hours helping prepare the sports ground for the May long weekend sports day. He enjoyed dancing, hunting, gardening, cooking and collecting antiques. Iver was a very capable carpenter and did renovations for the Wood Mountain Hotel, Wood Mountain Hall and the Franklin Hotel in Assiniboia. He also helped to build the Curling Rink, Department of Highways Shop, and the school gym. His greatest project was the renovation of the house on the farm, where he spent many intensive laboring hours creating a home for his family. Iver was a dedicated father spending many hours with his daughters on the farm and attending their many activities. Highlights of his summer included trail riding, camping and the Wood Mountain Rodeo. Iver was always joined by his girls and later on by his grandchildren, who were his pride and joy. After Iver sold the farm he retired to St. Victor, where he purchased a beautiful home. During retirement he continued to enjoy attending auctions, collecting antiques, camping, boating, fishing and travelling with family and friends. Iver will be greatly missed and memories of him will be cherished always. Iver is survived by his loving family, mother Helen Hysuick; daughter Paula (Tim) Hugie, grandsons Wade, Ridge; daughter Tashia (Brad) Schmidt, grandchildren Becka, Cauy; daughter Tanis (Sheldon) Oliver, grandson Karsen; companion Wendy Olynyk; sister Lenora (Mike) Rotariu; brothers Gary (Louise) Hysuick, Dennis (Carmen) Hysuick; and numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his father Lee Hysuick; the mother of his children Joan McGonigal. Funeral Service was held on Saturday, November 16, 2013, at 11:00 a.m., at St. George R.C.
