Obituary of Leona Deringer
Leona Rose Deringer passed away peacefully at the Prairie View Health Centre, Mankota, SK on May 10, 2021, at the age of 83 years. She was the eldest of seven children born to John and Elizabeth (nee Silbernagel) Deringer. She was born February 10, 1938, on the SW ¼ 30-8-3 W3rd, in the Mankota district. She loved nature and especially being outdoors. She married Karl Adamarczuk and they were blessed with four children Melvin, Wayne, Norine and Quinn. The family had an acreage just outside of Medicine Hat. Here they operated a pig, chicken, and egg farm. Her life’s calling was working in the service industry. She genuinely enjoyed serving others and being with the public. She was an excellent cook, baker, and exceptional waitress, and could carry many, many dishes at once. Her entrepreneurial spirit gave her the courage to relocate with Karl to Fort McMurray, AB, and open the very first jewelry store there. She also owned and operated a hotel in Arborfield, SK and a restaurant in Loon Lake, BC. She worked hard and was so proud when she was able to purchase a Lincoln Continental which she affectionally called Bettsie. She enjoyed traveling, gardening, crocheting, playing cards, doing puzzles, watching nature movies, and had a crazy love for animals, especially horses and monkeys. Leona had a special way of nicknaming each of her family members. She adored her grandchildren and treasured time spent with them. She will be dearly missed by all those who loved her so much.
Left to cherish her memory are her four children: Melvin Adamarczuk of Red Deer, AB, Wayne (Cyndy) Adamarczuk of Hannah, AB, Norine Kelly (Leo Walsh) of Nipawin, SK, Quinn Adamarczuk (Catherine) of Red Deer, AB; grandchildren Ryan (Rachelle) Herman, Michael Adamarczuk; Karlee (Justin) Esler, Skyler (Kathryn) Adamarczuk; Christopher Kelly (Jodi), Stephen (Crystal) Kelly, Sabrina Kelly (Bob), Tyler Kelly; great-grandchildren Rylie, Lucas, Olive, Wren, Andrew, Dustin, Courtney, Jamie, Zoey, Anika, Khloe, and Kyra. She is also survived by siblings Clara Miner of Kamloops, BC, Wendel (Josie) Deringer of Mankota, SK, Gloria Paul of Lethbridge, AB, Gabe (Shirley) Deringer of Mankota, SK, and by numerous nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents John and Elizabeth Deringer, baby sister Beatrice Deringer, sister Lillian Worth; brothers-in-law Alvin Miner and Dale Paul.
