Obituary of Sheila NOESS

Sheila Barbara Noess of Moose Jaw, SK, passed away on Wednesday, December 4, 2013, at the age of 78 years. Sheila was born January 22, 1935 on the Smith Family Farm in the Coderre district. She was the youngest of Charles and Alice Smith’s seven children. Sheila grew up on the family farm and attended Barr Hill School and the Coderre School. Sheila worked for the Robin Hood Flower Mill for seven years; she mainly worked in Moose Jaw, although she did spend some time at the mill in Montreal. When Sheila returned from Montreal she worked for the Public Health Department in Regina until her marriage. Sheila married Stewart Noess on November 27, 1969 in Moose Jaw, SK. Sheila and Stewart lived on Seven Springs Ranch near Spring Valley. Together they worked side by side, sharing their dream of seeing the ranch grow and prosper. Sheila and Stewart preferred working with cattle and horses, and took great pride in their commercial herd of Black Angus cattle, which they showed for many years at the Canadian Agribition. Through the years Sheila and Stewart built a new home on the ranch, added new sheds, barns and fences. Sheila enjoyed the outdoors and being around nature, and she had a special love for her dear pets Gypsy and Jesse. Sheila loved being a part of the community and visiting with family and friends; she especially enjoyed having company come over to visit. She also made the best homemade dill pickles. Sheila loved living on the ranch, only deciding to move to Moose Jaw after Stewart passed away. Sheila was a devoted wife and was deeply loved by her family. Her commitment to deep values of hard work, honesty, helping your neighbor, enjoying your community and her love for family, animals and nature will be dearly remembered. Sheila is survived by her brothers Campbell (Mearl) Smith, Jim (Thora) Smith; brothers-in-law Charlie Binner, Mel (Edith) Noess; sisters-in-law Dorothy Smith, Illa Mitchell; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Stewart Noess; infant daughter Susan; parents Charles and Alice (nee Brewer) Smith; brothers John Smith, William (Edna) Smith; sisters Marguerite (Gordon) Myhra, Jean Binner; brother-in-law Doug Mitchell; sister-in-law Joyce Buchanan; nephew John Smith; niece Sharon (Bill) McMillan. A Private Family Funeral Service will take place. Memorial donations in memory of Sheila to the Moose Jaw Humane Society, PO Box 1658, Stn. Main, Moose Jaw, SK S6H 7K7, are greatly appreciated.
